A Comparative Study Of Hand Action Verbs In The Commercial Press Learner’s Dictionary Of Contemporary Chinese And Oxford Intermediate Learner’s English-Chinese Dictionary(5th Edition)

Compared with foreign countries,the study of dictionaries in our country started relatively late and has long been influenced by the introverted Chinese dictionaries.Therefore,the theory of compiling an extroverted Chinese learner’s dictionary still needs to be explored.With the vigorous development of Chinese international education in recent years,It’s needs a complete extroverted Chinese learner’s dictionary.The Chinese Dictionary of Business Library Studies,compiled by Lu Jianji and Lu Wenhua,has been well received in recent years.It is a high-level Chinese Dictionary for foreign-oriented study.But we have to admit that the dictionary is not perfect,and there are still many refinements on it.This paper takes The Hand Action Verbs in the Chinese Dictionary of Business Library Studies(hereinafter referred to as "Business Library")and the Oxford Intermediate English-Chinese Dictionary(5th Edition)(hereinafter referred to as "Oxford Intermediate")as the research objects,exploring the characteristics of the objects in an extroverted learner’s dictionary.In this paper,145 hand action verbs in the Chinese Dictionary of Business Library Studies and208 hand action verbs in the Oxford Intermediate English-Chinese Dictionary.This paper makes a quantitative analysis of the number and types of matching cases in two dictionaries.Then the paper analyzes the semantic,grammatical and pragmatic functions of the matching cases with the content of the matching cases.Based on the analysis of the matching cases in the two dictionaries,some optimization suggestions are provided for the compilation of an extroverted learner’s dictionary.In the aspect of quantity,the export-oriented Learner’s dictionary plays an important role in word decoding,so it is necessary to ensure that a certain number of matching cases have achieved the exemplary function of encoding,and the number of matching cases should be tilted towards high-frequency words,multi-level and multi-angle show the function of words.In the aspect of types,this paper only analyzes the form of matching cases,and holds that matching cases of phrases do not play a corresponding role in the dictionary,and that the function of matching cases of phrases should be paid attention to in the process of compiling.The function of matching cases is the focus of this paper,and it is analyzed from three aspects: semantics,grammar and pragmatics.It is considered that the matching cases in an extroverted learner’s dictionary should be in accordance with the definitions when the number of matching cases is limited,that is to say,the matching cases should be typical and concise.
