From "Innovating Literature And Art "to" Beautiful Life":Research On Lv Cheng’S Aesthetic Thought And Its Aesthetic Education Practice

This article takes the aesthetic thought and practice of modern famous Buddhist scholar Lv Cheng as the research object.The reasons are as follows: 1.Lv Cheng’s article Art Revolution first put forward the proposition of "Art Revolution" and pointed out the four revolutions,and emphasized the ontology of fine arts and clarified the boundaries and tasks of fine arts disciplines,which is of great significance to the creation of fine arts modernity.2.Lv Cheng’s early art education activities and his writings on aesthetics and fine arts not only embodied his ideological path of "renovating literature and art" and "reshaping life",and have great significance for aesthetic enlightenment,and are also important for modern aesthetics and the systematic theoretical construction.3.As a Buddhist scholar,Lv Cheng had received the training of Buddhism-only knowledge before conducting aesthetic research.Did this training have an impact on Lv Cheng’s aesthetic research? At the same time,apart from the ideological background of Buddhism,did Lv Cheng,who had studied in Japan and was interested in Western art,used Western aesthetic theories for reference when thinking about aesthetic education? And why did Lv Cheng give up aesthetics and concentrate on Buddhism in the mid-twenties? Investigating the social and cultural trends of the early twentieth century: the art world is learning from the west to the east,the "New Chinese Painting Movement" and "Foreign Painting Movement" in the fine arts world came onto the stage,and Buddhism’s theory of knowledge-only theory flourished.Contacting Lv Cheng’s personal thoughts and academic interests,it is not difficult to get answers to the above questions.The change of Lv Cheng’s academic research interest has an important connection with the cultural trends of the society at that time.Therefore,taking Lv Cheng as the research object is also of great value for us to grasp the social and cultural changes in the early 20 th century.This article intends to make a detailed study of Mr.Lv Cheng’s early aesthetic activities: Chapter 1 mainly discusses the aesthetic atmosphere and Buddhist conditions of the entire society at the end of the 19 th century and the beginning of the 20 th century,and focuses on the investigation of Lv Cheng’s early years’ experience and his ideological influence in a historical context;Chapter 2 focuses on the text of Lv Cheng’s "Art Revolution".The article Art Revolution is the earliest newspaper article currently available for Lv Cheng.In this article,Lv Cheng expounded his art concepts,and these concepts were reflected in his later education practice.Therefore,the second part of the article will start from the textual investigation of Art Revolution,supplemented by Chen Duxiu’s The Reply,examine Lv Cheng’s art revolution theory and explore Lv Cheng’s inner thoughts from a comparative standpoint;Chapter 3 combs the development of Lv Cheng’s aesthetic thought in accordance with the chronological order,and integrates his aesthetic thoughts scattered in various articles to explore the construction process of Lv Cheng’s entire aesthetic thoughts.Meanwhile,combined with his Buddhist education,the author want to discuss his entire aesthetic thought;the fourth chapter the author places her sight on Lv Cheng’s aesthetic education practice activities: Lv Cheng taught at Xuzhou No.10 Middle School,Shanghai Art College,Nanjing Art School,Nanjing No.1 Middle School,and served as an editor in the magazine "Fine Arts".Lv Cheng’s art education and popularization activities are the practical demonstration of his aesthetic thoughts.Therefore,the fourth chapter of the article will discuss his aesthetic education implementation ideas through a detailed combing of Lv Cheng’s life history;The conclusion focuses on the turn of Lv Cheng’s historical position in the history of Modern Chinese aesthetics,and aims to summarize his early academic activities in detail.The author believes that using Buddhism to accept and construct aesthetics had become a way of thinking in aesthetics research in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,and Lv Cheng’s aesthetic research is the product of this thinking.This essay demonstrates his research thinking and enlightenment consciousness of "constructing an aesthetic system with Buddhist theories" through the investigation of him,thus re-establishing Lv Cheng’s historical position in the history of aesthetics and art in the 20 th century.
