The Source And Evolution Of “X Yi” Manmer Adverbs

As a special one commonly used in Chinese thesaurus,The manner adverb is different from the others,and its internal members are complicated.Compared with other adverbs,its development degree is not mature,its research started late,its research content is not perfect,and there are differences and controversies,so there is still value and space for research.On the basis of previous scholars’ research and factual corpus,this paper will analyze the research process of "X yi" will-like manner adverbs which are similar in form and appear on a large scale,summarize the syntactic changes,pragmatic features and semantic evolution in the process of lexicalization and grammaticalization,a nalysis the motivation and mechanism of lexicalization and grammaticalization,and thus deeply explore the internal laws and characteristics of "X yi" will-like manner adverbs from phrase to real word to function word.This article has seven chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of this paper,which mainly describes the background of this paper and the current research status of this kind of adverbs in academic circles.The second chapter investigates the internal members of the kind of manner adverb"X yi"expressing"premeditated"meaning.We have selected two typical members of this kind of words,namely"Gu yi(故意)"and"Xu yi(蓄意)".These two cases are frequently used in modern Chinese,and the research results are relatively few,especially the case of"Xu yi(蓄意)".The study of"Gu yi(故意)"mainly focuses on its diachronic evolution from the perspective of lexicalization.Here,we probe into the lexicalization of"Gu yi(故意)"from a phrase in the form to an adverb.The process of lexicalization,pragmaticsand grammaticalization is investigated from diachronic and synchronic perspectives based on corpus.The third chapter investigates the internal members of"X yi"will adverbs which express"distorted"meaning.We have selected two typical members of this kind of words,namely"Jia yi(假意)"and"Qu yi(曲意)",The"Jia yi(假意)"changed from a partial phrase to a noun,and then changed into an adverb after grammaticalization.However,"Qu yi(曲意)"only experienced the lexicalization process from verb-object phrase to adverb.Therefore,they are put together for comparison.Based on the full investigation and analysis of the corpus,it explains the motivation and mechanism of its lexicalization from the perspectives of pragmatics,semantics and syntax.The fourth chapter investigates the internal members of the"X yi"will adverb expressing"firm stand".We have selected two typical members of this kind of words,namely"Zhi yi(执意)"and"Jue yi(决意)",which have different diachronic origins.Although adverbs"Zhi yi(执意)"and"Jue yi(决意)"are both verbobject phrases,"Zhi yi(执意)"has diachronically positive structure and verbobject structure,while the latter continues to evolve towards lexicalization in the process of word formation,while the former stagnates at the stage of biased phrases,while"Jue yi(决意)"has only experienced lexicalization from verb-object phrase to adverb in continuous structure.We have investigated their lexicalization and grammaticalization from diachronic and synchronic perspectives.The fifth chapter investigates the internal members of the"X yi"will adverb expressing"indulgence".We have selected two typical members of this kind of words,namely"Zi yi(恣意)"and"Ren yi(任意)",both of which are cases that have not been studied before.We have investigated the process of lexicalization and grammaticalization from the diachronic and synchronic perspectives.The sixth chapter summarizes the characteristics,motivation and mechanism of lexicalization of"X yi".The seventh chapter is the conclusion,which is a summary of the full text.
