The material of this translation practice report is WHO Guidelines for the Pharmacological and Radiotherapeutic Management of Cancer Pain in Adults and Adolescents. This 2018 version of cancer pain control was officially launched by the World Health Organization in January 2019,which mainly aims to provide evidencebased medical guidance for the management of cancer pain to reduce the pain of cancer patients and enable them to live a normal life. This report uses the method of text analysis to analyze the characteristics of the source language text and uses the method of case studies to analyze various examples in the text by focusing on the important and difficult points at the lexical, syntactic and textual levels.Since the translation material involves a large number of drug names, abbreviations and other medical terms, the author carefully reads the related parallel texts and consults medical professional dictionaries in order to translate them in a precise way according to the widely-used translation techniques such as transliteration and literal translation. When dealing with complicated long and difficult sentences, the author uses three translation methods, namely sequential, reverse and segmentation methods. At the discoursal level, the author mainly considers the application of relevant cohesive devices in the report, and makes the text more coherent by adjusting the structure of word order.Through this translation practice, the author hopes to provide guidance and reference for relevant medical workers, public health personnel and program managers while discussing the translation methods and skills of medical texts.
