"Learning"- The Way To Establish The Analects Of Confucius

Confucius is the founder and pioneer of Confucianism,and his thought has a far-reaching influence on the whole Chinese traditional thought.In the study of Confucius thought,especially in the Analects of Confucius,it is of great significance to explore the status and role of "learning"."Learning" is not only a very important category in the Analects of Confucius,but also plays an important role in the whole Confucianism.The clue to carry out the whole Analects of Confucius is the process of "becoming a benevolent Confucian through continuous learning".This paper makes a comprehensive analysis of the connotation and value of"learning" in the Analects.At the very beginning,the meaning of "learning" and "Jue"are the same.They all contain awakening,enlightenment and imitating.They guide and remind everyone to grow up to be a person of benevolence and morality.The content of "learning" involves "Six Classics" and "Seven Liberal Arts” such as rites,music,shooting and calligraphy.The attitude of "learning" varies from diligence,modesty to eagerness.The practice of "learning" lies in "learning to be a good scholar and an official","learning to be a good thinker" and "paying equal attention to knowledge and practice";the goals of "learning" mainly include learning to be an adult and learning to be close to “Tao”,which are also embodied in the Analects.And learning to be an adult means knowing the destiny of heaven and harmonizing the heaven and man,so as to achieve the unity of "inner sage" and "outer king" of Confucian moral state.The range of "learning" covers not only the knowledge level,but also include serving the individual,society to the whole human life."Shu" and "Dao" are the contents that should be learned,which are not only in line with the spirit of "Zhi Dao" in Confucian tradition,but also in line with the traditional Chinese knowledge of "harmony between human and nature".From this point of view,"learning" in the opening chapter of the Analects plays an important role in and throughout the whole book.It highlights the enlightenment of Confucius,that is,the object of enlightenment is from scholar to everyone,and the ideal state goes from individual morality to gentleman’s personality and to the combination of heaven and benevolence.As the foundation of Confucianism,"learning" directly points to the heart of each of us,awakening us to realize our inner life.And it urges individuals to grow up to be the most perfect self through continuous "learning",so as to govern the family,the country and the world.This is not only the main idea of Confucius,but also what he has pursued and practiced all his life.What he believes is to show his true self and become virtuous and holy in the process of "learning".
