Singing Analysis Of "Missing Son" In The Opera "Wild Fire And Spring Breeze Fight The Ancient City"

Chinese national opera is a comprehensive stage art form with distinctive national characteristics.Combat in the Ancient City like Wildfire in Spring Wind,as one of the outstanding works of Chinese national opera,includes the performing form of Western opera and incorporates the musical elements of Chinese opera at the same time.After studying previous literature,the author analyzes the character of Yang’s mother based on intensive reading and studying of the original novel plus researching background and contents of the entire opera.What’s more,some other arias concerning Yang’s mother have also been studied to enrich the analysis of the character.The author also makes an in-depth research on the aria “Missing My Son” from the perspective of the singing skills,emotional expression,and stage performance through analyzing the musical structure and the melody feature combining with the author’s own singing experience of it.All efforts are aimed to fully grasp the artistic connotation of the work while providing other singers with some helpful references.
