The English to Chinese practice report consists of the source text,translation and translation strategies.The source text is excerpted from the novel of Unicorn School The Treasure Hunt.It is an excellent children’s literature.So far,there is no Chinese version of the novel.In the process of translation,guided by Reception Theory,the translator adopts a variety of translation strategies to solve the problems.The translator first analyses the source text from the lexical level and syntactic level and has a general grasp of the features of the source text.The translator makes sufficient preparation before translation and consults relevant materials about children’s literature and Reception Theory.The translator translates the source text from the lexical level and syntactic level.Under the guidance of Reception Theory,the translator adopts the strategies of amplification,omission and semantic extension at the lexical level and the translator adopts the strategies of long sentence splitting and revision of words order at syntactic level.The guidance of Reception Theory provides the translator with translation strategies and helps the translator solve the problem in the process of translation.Through the translation practise,the translator learns to translate a work by various translation strategies and fully consider the target readers.Finally,the translator concludes that Reception Theory can guide the translation of children’s literature.Reading level and acceptance ability of the target readers should be fully considered in the process of translation.Only in this way can the translator do a good job in translation.
