A Study On The Lha Bla Ma Ye Shes ’od Kyi Rnam Thar Rgyas Pa

Lha bla ma ye shes ’od kyi rnam thar rgyas pa was written by Gu ge pa(?)(?)ita grags pa rgyal mtshan in the 15 th century.The biography mainly tells the life story of Lha bla ma ye shes ’od,a descendant of Tubo royal family,and praises his great achievements in curbing heresy and promoting Buddhism in Mng’a ris area.On the basis of previous studies,this paper mainly uses philology,history and other research methods to interpret and study the manuscript Lha bla ma ye shes ’od kyi rnam thar rgyas pa.The full text consists of six chapters,which can be simplified into three parts.This paper first introduces the appearance and shape characteristics of the manuscript,such as its collection and discovery,layout,writing,symbol application,Tibetan abbreviation,etc.,as well as its collation and publication,corrects some mistakes in Tibetan writing and later collation and publication,and describes the author of the manuscript,its compilation structure and historical data sources.That is: Gu ge pa(?)(?)ita grags pa rgyal mtshan lived in the 15 th century.He was a historian who specialized in the history of Mng’a ris area.In his childhood,he studied Buddhist classics from Chos rje kun dga bzang po and other teachers,and then cultivated his children,wrote books,and carried forward the life story of Buddhism.This paper points out that he obtained and used bka gtsigs kyi yi ge and Mng’a ris chos ’byung of Lha bla ma ye shes ’od period to compile this biography.Secondly,the author interprets the content of the biography.The author cites the Buddhist classics such asāryama?ju?rināmasa?gīti,Karu?āpu(?)(?)arīka-sūtram,dge sdig bstan p’ai mdo to promote Lha bla ma ye shes ’od is the original intention and purpose of the enlightened descendants of the Tubo royal family.It further interprets the historical facts of the combination of grace and power,the use of royal power to curb the rise of heresy and Bon religion,and to promote Buddhism and introduce foreign excellent culture for Mng’a ris Region.Finally,the author of the biography,Gu ge pa(?)(?)ita grags pa rgyal mtshan,is summarized,that is,influenced by Buddhism,and has a practical and realistic attitude towards history,and preliminarily reveals the academic value of the biography for the study of the history of Wang Tong,the history of Buddhism inheritance,and ancient place names in the early Mng’a ris area.In Lha bla ma ye shes ’od kyi rnam thar rgyas pa,the author quoted a large number of bka gtsigs kyi yi ge from Lha bla ma ye shes ’od and his descendants in the 10th-11 th century.These are the first-hand materials for the study of social life,religious belief,culture and economy in the early Mng’a ris area,which are of great research value.The study of this biography is conducive to the investigation of the historical thoughts and attitude of Gu ge pa(?)(?)ita grags pa rgyal mtshan,the characteristics of Tibetan biography,the life stories of Lha bla ma ye shes ’od and other historical figures,and the historical achievements of Lha bla ma ye shes ’od.It also helps to investigate the exchange and blending of Buddhist culture between the early Mng’a ris area and the surrounding areas.
