| For a long time,women have been marginalized in a society dominated by men.Since the 15 th century,some pioneer women began to awaken.They realized the oppression of women’s fundamental rights applied by the patriarchal society.As a result,they challenged the patriarchal society,and worked tirelessly on the road of fighting for rights.In particular,since the 19 th century,with the changes of the times and the development of the feminist movement,feminism has gradually been known by people as well as aroused extensive and profound discussions.The social status of women has changed accordingly.At the same time,the emergence and gradual popularization has made this general,convenient and easily operable art form gradually accepted by intellectual women.More and more women can examine themselves and the world through lenses,and create works with distinctive feminine characteristics.They broke the shackles of the patriarchal society,changed the stereotypes of women,and made female subject photography a section that can not be overlooked in the field of art.This dissertation takes feminism as an entry point.It mainly studies how female subject photography examines society through female perspective,creates photographic works and presents works of feminine value under the influence of the feminist movement.This dissertation consists of three parts.First,sorting out the multiple genres and systems of feminism,analyzing the influence of feminism on female subject photography,elaborating the development and practical significance of female subject photography.Secondly,summarizing the specific experience of women and the uniqueness of female subject photography,such as their focuses on women’s bodies,social identities and disadvantaged groups,by comparing with men.Finally,combining women’s own characteristics and social background,making specific analysis of life experience and work connotation of three famous female photographers of Nancy Goldin,Cindy Sherman and Vivian Maier,studying the influence of feminism on their works,and summarizing the expressions of female subject photography such as taking self-portraits,acting and documenting.Studying female subject photography can not only arouse the awakening of female consciousness,encourage them to achieve self-attention and self-identification and change the neglect and prejudice of women in the patriarchal society,it can also help women present themselves and society from female perspective using various techniques and media,embody female experience in their works,expand the content and form of photography,and provide theoretical support for the creation and development of female subject photography. |
