| At present,senior high school students,especially Senior three students in the author’s school only master a small size of vocabulary.Most of the students have trouble finding a proper way to learn English vocabulary.As a result,they are tired or even afraid of vocabulary review.While the teacher still adopts the traditional methods of teaching vocabulary and lacks the guidance of vocabulary review strategies in class.Mind Map is a visual graphic tool which can effectively promote students’ divergent thinking and activate students’ memory potential.Under the guidance of the new curriculum,this research applies Mind Map to English vocabulary review teaching in Senior three,aiming to help students enlarge their vocabulary and to enrich their vocabulary review strategies.Based on Tony Buzan’s theory on Mind Map,the research applies Mind Map to vocabulary review teaching in Senior three to investigate the following two questions:(1)What influence does the application of Mind Map in vocabulary review teaching have on the size of vocabulary of Senior three students?(2)What influence does the application of Mind Map in vocabulary review teaching have on vocabulary learning strategies of Senior three students? The research studied the students in Class13,Grade3 and Class14,Grade3 in Zhengzhou No.2 Senior School.The main research tools include questionnaire,tests as well as interviews.SPSS20.0 is used to analyze the collected data.After a term’s teaching practice and by data analysis,the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)Mind Map can not only promote students’ English vocabulary review but also greatly enlarge the students’ vocabulary.(2)Students generally believe that Mind Map can enrich their vocabulary review strategies,and they can often use association,contrast,classification,metacognition and other strategies to review vocabulary,which improves the efficiency of vocabulary review and stimulates their interest in vocabulary review.Therefore,it is suggested that Senior three teachers can guide students to combine Mind Map with cognitive strategies and metacognitive strategies to review English vocabulary.At the same time,in the process of the application of Mind Map in Senior three English vocabulary review,the teacher should instruct students to summarize vocabulary as often as possible to strengthen the effect of review. |
