For a long time,reading,as a major skill in English learning,is one of the basic ways of language input and information acquisition.English reading teaching is the focus of the whole English teaching and the key to help students improve their overall English level.In the English reading teaching,teachers should not only teach students the language knowledge of the text,but also lead them to analyze the text deeply.And text interpretation is important way for effective reading.Teachers’ interpretation of the text can not only help them master the teaching materials more accurately,but also help them choose appropriate reading teaching methods and find effective ways to guide students to understand the content of the text.In order to discovery the application of text interpretation in senior high school English reading teaching,this study puts forward the following three questions:(1)What text interpretation knowledge do senior high school English teachers acquire?(2)What is the current situation of the application of text interpretation in senior high school English reading teaching?(3)What is the effect of the application of text interpretation in senior high school English reading teaching?In order to solve the above questions,this study investigates the application of text interpretation in senior high school English reading class by means of questionnaire and classroom observation,the questionnaire includes teachers’ questionnaire and students’ questionnaire.The author discoveries the situation of senior high school English teachers’ mastery of text interpretation by teachers’ questionnaire,discoveries the current situation of the application of text interpretation in senior high school English reading teaching by classroom observation and in order to better understand this situation,six questions related to it are designed in the questionnaire,and discoveries the effect of the application of text interpretation in senior high school English reading teaching by students’ questionnaire.And SPSS22.0 is used to analyze the reliability,validity and data.Based on data analysis,this study gain the following findings: firstly,most teachers think that they have a strong sense of text interpretation and are comparatively satisfied with their mastery of text interpretation in theory and practice.Secondly,through classroom observation and with the help of students’ questionnaire,it can be seen that teachers can not fully apply their own mastery of text interpretation to reading teaching,especially in the three aspects of text language interpretation,writing intention interpretation and text culture interpretation.There are several problems of teachers’ guidance for the text interpretation: the teaching methods are single and superficial,teaching time is not enough and teacher can not interpret content comprehensively.Thirdly,through the students’ questionnaire,most students think they are not satisfied with their ability in text interpretation,especially their ability to interpret writing intention and text culture.Therefore,the effect of text interpretation in English reading class is not ideal.The main reason for this effect is that teachers can not guide students to interpret the text comprehensively.This study provides some teaching enlightenment for teachers on how to apply text interpretation in senior high school English reading teaching,which requires teachers focus on class design,and give full play to the role of text interpretation in improving the reading ability of senior high school students.
