Zen Commentary on I Ching is a classic work by Ouyi, who was one of the four eminent monks in the late Ming Dynasty.Zen Commentary on I Ching is a clear reflection of his Interpretation of Changes in Terms of Zen.The main content of Zen Commentary on I Ching is Ouyi’s interpretation of the hexagrams and line statements in I Ching using the philosophy and ideological structure of Buddhism.I Ching,a Confucian classic,is a book of images and numbers that incorporates natural philosophy and ethical practices and was used by the ancients for divination and prediction. The image number in I Ching is attributed partly to divination and partly to philosophy. The whole ideological system of I Ching occupies an extremely important position in the history of traditional Chinese culture and is regarded as the first among the classics by later generations.Ouyi’s thoughts are a summary of Buddhism, and he advocates the integration of the three religions. He chose to interpret I Ching, the most representative work in Confucianism, with Buddhist principles, believing that there is no difference between the two in essence. This is not only a bold attempt to integrate Confucianism and Buddhism, but also a new construction and interpretation of I Ching.Based on this value, this paper, starting from Ouyi’s historical background,Starting from the background of the Times, this paper sorts out the development history of Buddhism and philosophy of changes, and analyzes the connotation of the theory of "Interpretation of Changes in Terms of Zen" in Zen Commentary on I Ching. The connotation and levels of the fusion of Buddhism and philosophy of changes are analyzed. This paper mainly discusses the origin and structure of the thought of interpreting Changes in Zen Commentary on I Ching by Ouyi in four parts. The first part mainly describes the background and value of Zen Commentary on I Ching.First, the development process of Buddhism in the Ming Dynasty,as well as the life of the four eminent monks of the Ming Dynasty and their views and attitudes towards the integration of Confucianism and Buddhism are summarized. Then it makes a brief analysis of the relationship between Confucianism and Buddhism. At last, the relationship between philosophy of changes and Buddhism in the history of evolution to do a simple discussion. The second part: mainly from the three aspects of "qian yuan and Buddha nature","Changes and true nature","Philosophy of changes is Buddhism" to discuss the Buddha and Changes in the original interconnection. The first section discusses how the "Buddha nature" as the basis point of Buddhism is integrated with the "Qian Yuan" as the basis point of Changes learning. The second section analyzes the relationship between Changes, tai chi and zhenru, and discusses the integration of the three characters in Zen Commentary on I Ching. The third section elaborates that the Ouyi in Zen Commentary on I Ching equates the changes learning with the Buddhist principles. From two aspects of "the four virtues of Buddha" and "changes and not change" and "constant and impermanence",this paper analyzes the integration of Confucianism and Buddha thought at its root. The third part: from the three aspects of "the universe,Yin and Yang, and the view and determination of wisdom","the right way","six lines and six namely",analyzes the relationship between the Buddhist theory and the changes theory constructed by Ouyi with the Buddhist interpretation of Changes learning. The first section analyzes the meaning of "Qian,Kun,Yin and Yang and Zhiguan,Dinghui" and how they are framed in the words of the hexagrams and lines. The second section discusses how Ouyi, the position of the line representing the right position in I Ching,is interpreted by Buddhism. The third section discusses how Ouyi interpreted the lines and lyrics of I Ching by means of six i.e.thought in Buddhist practice. The fourth part discusses the characteristics of Ouyi’s thoughts in Zen Commentary on I Ching. The first section analyzes the integration of various schools in Ouyi’s Buddhist thoughts. The second section analyzes the thoughts of other schools and figures of Confucianism that Ouyi refers to in Zen Commentary on I Ching. In the third section,Ouyi inherited the ideas of Yunxi Zhu Hong and Zibo Zhenke, and what influence they had on Ouyi.
