The professional development of Junior High School English teacher attracts people’s much attention.It is essential to improve the teaching quality,cultivate specialized talent of new era,and face the new standard of curriculum reform.Put it in anther way,It is related to improve teachers’ comprehensive quality intensively;It is the effective way to carry out the key competence;It is the core of changing the present condition.Only when professional development is improved,will students’ language capability be promoted.This paper selects 150 English teachers of 9 Junior High School in Yan’an City.Based on reading the extensive documents,It aims to investigate and analyze the present condition and the existing problems with the questionnaire and interview.And The research questions in this thesis include:1.What is the current situation with the Junior High School English teachers’ professional development? 2.What are the main existing problems of the professional development of Junior High School English teachers?Based on the quantitative and qualitative analysis,this paper discovers that It’s more optimistic about the basic condition of English teachers of Junior High School in Yan’an city,which is viewed from age,academic background,training situation and so on.And It belongs to a young and well-educated team totally,which has bigger space for development.However,there is still some gap between the development of Junior High School and the goal of cultivating students’ core literacy.Therefore,there are still some existing problems about it from three aspects.First,the knowledge structure is unbalanced.Second,professional ability needs to be improved.Third,professional attitude needs to be changed.Based on the above analysis and the theory of lifelong learning,this paper aims to encourage the teachers to improve themselves actively,and the schools are supposed to provide more chances for the teachers.In addition,It attempts to improve teachers’ teaching level,and students’ ability to use the language,to realize the implementation of core literacy at last.Foremost,the research appeals our country and society to pay much attention to English teachers’ psychological state in Junior high School,and help them reduce their working pressure,creating a nice working circumstance for their occupational well-beings.
