The Transation Of Koda Rohan’s Cognition Toward Sea

Japanese famous writer Koda Rohan has always been concerned about the ocean,and has taken the ocean as an important topic in literary creation and academic research.The marine cognition of Koda Rohan has complicated causes,and has undergone several great changes in his creative career,which is the result of the joint action of personal factors,national factors and historical factors.The changes of the ocean cognition of Koda Rohan have great reference value and practical significance in reflecting the complex emotions and cognitive changes of modern Japanese scholars in the rapidly changing social environment.The subject of this paper is the transation of the cognition toward sea.This paper will focus on the key word "transation",comprehensively and dynamically grasp the ocean cognition of the different periods of Koda Rohan,and systematically sort out the transation of the ocean cognition of Koda Rohan.The introduction discusses the research questions and background,advanced research at home and abroad,research value and innovation,and summarizes the conception of the paper.The main body is divided into four chapters.Based on this,Koda Rohan’s ocean cognition changes are divided into four stages.The first chapter discusses the germination period of the ocean cognition,taking the whalers(1891)as the main research object.Although Koda Rohan’s cognition of the ocean in the budding period was more multi-faceted,because he did not think deeply about the ocean,at this time Koda Rohan only passively established a vague cognition of the ocean,and the ocean cognition reflected in his creation did not break through the Japanese people’s general understanding of the ocean at that time.The second chapter discusses the blind obedience period of the ocean cognition,taking the great frozen sea(1893)as the main research object.During the Sino-Japanese War,Koda Rohan faced his brother Gunji Shigetada’s warfare marine activities.He was caught in a dilemma between family affection and morality and finally chose to compromise.Finally,he united with Gunji Shigetada and promoted the maritime thought of war expansion.As a result,Koda Rohan had to abandon the traditional Japanese ocean cognition that was unfavorable for the construction of "sea country Japan",and his ocean cognition appeared to be contrary to the literary thought of the same period.The third chapter discusses the struggle period of the ocean cognition,taking the wave dashing to the sky(1903-1905)as the main research object.Koda Rohan’s understanding of the oceans.After experiencing the compromise and blind obedience during the Sino-Japanese War,Rohan gradually revised his extreme maritime thoughts and began to advocate a diversified sea-state development path to realize the comprehensive development of national maritime thoughts,and finally in the period of Russo-Japanese War returned to his care as a literate.The fourth chapter discusses the maturity of the ocean cognition,taking fantasy talks(1938)as the main research object.Koda Rohan’s positive thinking about ocean culture and his passion for ocean literature made his ocean imagery in his later creations more diversified.Koda Rohan’s ocean cognition has realized sublation and return in the process of gradually maturing,and finally achieved the coexistence of transcendence and immanence.The conclusion part combines the previous discussion to systematically comb and summarize the changes of Koda Rohan’s ocean cognition,and deeply explore the process of Koda Rohan’s ocean cognition from indifference and blind obedience to self-awakening,from isolation and extreme to wide acceptance.
