| In April of the 20th year of Wanli(1592),Japan’s Toyotomi Hideyoshi leads an army into Korea,officially kicking off the Wanli Korean War.Unable to resist the Japanese army,North Korea was repeatedly defeated and asked the Ming Dynasty for help.After a fierce discussion by the Ming court,Emperor,the Ming Shenzong decided to send troops to aid Korea against the Japanese.Both North Korea’s request for help and the threat of using North Korea as a springboard to attack the Ming Dynasty,the Ming Dynasty was unable to stay out of this war and even became an important participating country.The war lasted for seven years and did not officially end until December the twenty-sixth year of Wanli(1598).Liaodong was the main battleground in this long war,and it cost a great deal in terms of manpower,material and financial resources.This thesis discusses the situation of Liaodong before,during and after the Wanli Korean War,taking the Wanli Korean War as the dividing point in time.Therefore,this thesis focuses on Liaodong and discusses the strategic position of Liaodong in the Wanli Korean War.The main body of this thesis is divided into four parts:The first part examines the Liaodong before the Wanli Korean War.It mainly discusses the geographical scope and historical evolution of “Liaodong”,the establishment of Liaodong in the Ming Dynasty,and the activities of Jurchen Liaodong.The second part analyzes the special status of the region,Liaodong,in the relationship between the Ming Dynasty in China and North Korea.The Liaodong and Liaodong shipping in the exchanges between China and North Korea show that Liaodong in the Ming Dynasty,has always been unique.The third part examines the Liaodong during the Wanli Korean War.During the Wanli Korean War,there were a large number of Liaodong officials who carried out various dispatches and trainings on standby in Liaodong.Liaodong provided the Wanli Korean War with military,food and payment support.These all proved that Liaodong was in The important role played by this war.The fourth part discusses the Liaodong after the Wanli Korean War.Liaodong was in decline,and had no time to control Jurchen.The war consumed a lot of national power in the Ming Dynasty,which provided opportunities for the development of Jurchen and establishment of Houjin.Liaodong played a particularly important and irreplaceable role in the Wanli Korean War. |
