The Communication Of Language And Culture In The English Version Of The Song Of Youth

In the period of great development of world globalization,the integration of culture and economy has become a global trend.The forms and contents of culture are diverse,and the ways of communication of culture also have their own characteristics.So foreign translation of literary works is one of them.Literary translation is an act of cultural communication and a process of language communication.The translation and introduction of literary works is not just the conversion between words or language symbols.It is also based on more in-depth cultural connotations in the language environment.I chose the translation of The Song of Youth to conduct a case to analyse,because it’s different from the translation and introduction of other contemporary literary works on the theme of the novel,the background of creation,or the cultural context,and the dissemination.At the same time,The Song of Youth is the first excellent novel in the history of contemporary Chinese literature that describes the patriotic student movement and the struggle life of revolutionary intellectuals under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.And it’s very significant as a ‘Gift Film’ for the 10 th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China.So I will start from the language environment,combined with the political and cultural context of the time,and using the relevant theories of medio-translation,research the potential language communication culture that appears in the translation.This thesis is based on the theory of Medio-Translatology,and starting from the language environment,combined with the political and cultural context of the time,to research the potential language communication and cultural communication in the translation.Looking at the translation of The Song of Youth as a whole,it has achieved the purpose of disseminating Chinese literature to a certain extent,fully showing the fact and culture of China in the historical period at that time,but it is slightly insufficient in the dissemination of language and culture.
