The Study On Three Kinds Of Chin-Shih Lists Of JiaJing 44th Year

At present,the Teng K’o Lu as an officially certified Chin-Shih name list generally considered as one of the most important imperial examination documents(especially the Ming Dynasty Chin-Shih Teng K’o Lus),which has been studied and utilized by many scholars,and has become a key field of imperial examination research.In the process of studying the subject,we found that apart from the Chin-Shih Teng K’o Lus,in fact,the other two forms of the Chin-Shih name lists deserve more attention,that is the Chin-Shih T’ung-nien Lu(or other names like the T’ung-nien age Record,the T’ung-nien Rural)and the Chin-Shih Lü-li Pien-lan.However,there are few existing documents of this kind.And the academic circles have not carried out a comprehensive collation and research on such documents,and only a few subjects have been photocopied and published,so their value has not been maximized.Thus,this paper focuses on the Chin-Shih T’ung-nien Lu and the Chin-Shih Lü-li Pien-lan,selects the three Chin-Shih name lists of the Jiajing 44 th year branch as the research object to explore and enrich its literature value.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this paper is divided into four chapters to discuss.The first chapter introduced the selected versions of the three Chin-Shih name lists of the Jiajing 44 th year branch in this paper.By comparing their basic contents in origin,version,structure and style,and carefully analyzed all the advantages and disadvantages between the Chin-Shih T’ung-nien Lu,the Chin-Shih Lü-li Pien-lan and the Teng K’o Lu,to pave the way for the following three chapters.The second chapter analyzed the difference of the total number of Chin-Shih listed in the three Chin-Shih name lists,and further to researche the Chin-Shih who postpone to the Palace Examinations(告殿)and make up to the Palace Examinations(补殿),so as to study the phenomenon of postpone to the Palace Examinations in Jiajing and analyze the reasons.The third chapter analyzed the problems of Chin-Shih who“makes false report of age”(官年)in these three Chin-Shih name lists.By examining the date of birth record of Chin-Shih’s,it is found that all of the lists have the problem of make false report of age,and the Teng K’o Lu has the largest proportion,thus enriching the literature value played by the Chin-Shih T’ung-nien Lu and Chin-Shih Lü-li Pien-lan in the study of makes false report of age.The fourth chapter compares other problems of Chin-Shih’s family information in three Chin-Shih name lists,such as their name,font size,ranking of the test etc.Through the research,we can correct the mistakes recorded by other historical materials about Chin-Shih’s family information of the Jiajing 44 th year branch,and also have a clearer understanding of the advantages of the Chin-Shih T’ung-nien Lu and Chin-Shih Lü-li Pien-lan in recording Chin-Shih’s family status information.Through the author’s research,it is found that the information of Chin-Shih’s family status recorded in the Chin-Shih T’ung-nien Lu is more comprehensive than the Teng K’o Lu,while the information recorded in the Chin-Shih Lü-li Pien-lan is mainly the official experiences of Chin-Shih after entering the official position,and has a clear time track.These can not only supplement and improve the information of the Teng K’o Lus,but also play an important role in studying the official career of the scholar’s characters after the scientific examination.Of course,there also have problems,such as poor printing quality due to engraving,and many errors and omissions in information.By sorting out and studying three kinds of imperial examination documents and comparing the authenticity and richness of their recorded information,it is convenient for us to reasonably refer to these documents and promote relevant academic research.
