Japanese Culture And Gifts-the Practice Report Of Translation

In this topic,the preface,the first chapter and the second chapter of the book Gifts and Japanese Culture published by the Japanese scholar Mikiharu Itou in 2011 were selected as the object of the translation practice topic for trial translation.At the same time,this topic also takes these three chapters as the research object and research focus.Gifts and Japanese Culture uses the sociological keyword ’gifts’ as a starting point to discuss the practice of ‘gifts’ in Japan and other countries around the world from ancient times to the present day.The book also includes an exposition and discussion of the sociological principles of ‘gifts’.In the process of writing the practice report of translation,this topic selected the two concepts of "communicative translation" and "semantic translation" in the translation theory of the British translator Peter Newmark as theoretical guidance.On the basis of fully grasping the translation theory of Newmark,this paper chooses some words and sentences as starting points,and makes a translation and discussion of the paragraphs and chapters of Gifts and Japanese Culture.This practice report of translation is mainly divided into four parts.The first chapter introduces the author Mikiharu Itou and his work "Gifts and Japanese Culture" and expounds the value of this book and the practical significance of translation.On the basis of the first chapter,the second chapter tries to analyze the meaning and guiding significance of "communicative translation" and "semantic translation" in Newmark’s translation theory.This chapter inherits the above and leads to the following.The third chapter is empirical research,which is the core part of this practice report.This chapter selects some examples of translation examples in the text: "title","vocabulary" and "sentence" for discussion and research.The vocabulary and sentence parts in this practice report have the characteristics of strong professionalism,formal expression and high requirements for translation.The fourth chapter is the conclusion,reflecting on and summarizing the problems and gains encountered in the translation practice.
