Research On The Characteristics Of Narrative Fictional World From The Perspective Of Possible World Theory

After the possible world theory enters the field of narratology,it has become a norm to use "world" as a metaphor for the construction of narrative works.The possible world theory advocates that the narrative fictional world is also a special possible world,so this thesis uses the possible world theory to systematically discuss the characteristics of the narrative fictional world.Under the perspective of possible world theory,the narrative fictional world exhibits six characteristics,which can be divided into three groups for specific analysis based on the correlation between the characteristics.The first is the independence and simulation of the narrative fictional world.The possible world theory endows the fictional world and its individual with an independent ontological status by solving the truth value of the fictional entity.The fictional individual does not depend on the actual prototype to exist.Therefore,the narrative fictional world has outstanding independence.At the same time,there is a dynamic simulation relationship between fiction and reality.The author’s creative process and the reader’s reading experience are both a simulation process.The author characterizes the psychological simulation through a certain medium,making it a relatively stable fictional world.reading is the simulated presentation of the fictional world at the psychological level.Therefore,the narrative fictional world is also analogous.The second is the fictionality and authenticity of the narrative fictional world.The way in which fictional works are produced determines that fictionality is a legal attribute of the narrative fictional world.Its creator does not need to be questioned because of its authenticity,and readers should not measure fictional works by realistic standards of truth.In the narrative fictional world,its possible world system has different possible worlds and these worlds are on equal status,so the truth and falsity of the proposition are relative,and the truth value judgment of the fictional individual needs to return to the fictional world.The narrative fictional world has a unique authenticity.Finally,the finiteness and focus of the narrative fictional world are discussed.The fictional world is constructed by the narrative text,and the boundary of the text is destined to be limited,incomplete,and finite.The author’s style,aesthetic pursuits and genre rules are also important reasons for the finiteness of the narrative fictional world.Although finiteness limits the cognitive scope of the narrative fictional world,focusing on specific issues increases its cognitive strength.Therefore,focusing determines the cognition of the narrative fictional world,which is inseparable from the finiteness of the narrative fictional world.
