Jingchuan has been an important area for communication between ethnic minorities and Central Plains since ancient times.The special geographical location of the junction of Qinlong makes it a key area for the integration of nomadic civilization and farming civilization.Thus it breeds the rich historical culture.The long history and culture of Jingchuan County present many forms,such as temples and caves,Buddhist pagodas and Taoist temples,among which the stone carvings record the complex culture in a special form.This paper takes 66 kinds of stone carvings in Jingchuan County as the main research object.Based on the analysis and research of the inscriptions in Jingchuan County,this paper,combined with the literature recognizes the local society of Jingchuan in Ming and Qing Dynasties from the content of inscriptions.Firstly,some inscriptions reflect the natural scenery of Jingchuan area in the form of poetry and show the environment of the fair place that produces great people.Secondly,the local beliefs in Jingchuan area are embodied in the inscriptions like stone inscriptions.The belief in the West Wangmu is the main body,the virgin of Huangfu,Guandi and the Chenghuang together constitute a variety of local belief culture,and the religious culture is spread out in the form of sacrificial activities.In addition,there are many tombstone inscriptions reflecting the activities of the tomb owners and their family members,which are important parts of local society,especially the King of Ming Han and the family of Lv.Finally,the individual stone inscriptions recorded in the literature involve education and folk water society in Jingchuan County,which reflects the internal operation of local society.Simultaneously,the development track of Jingchuan area in the historical period of Ming and Qing Dynasties can be appreciated.
