On The Philosophical Ground Of The Law Of Contradiction

The position of the law of non-contradiction(hereinafter referred to as LNC)in logic is not clear.Not only is there no consensus on something among its multi-dimensional expression form,but it is also controversial about its truth.By limiting the scope of application of LNC,the logicians who insist paraconsistent logic reject to consider LNC as the inner theorem of their logic system,and also make the logic system have paraconsistency characteristics.But the classical mathematical logic system regards consistency as the fundamental characteristic of the system.There are two ways to defend LNC.One is dialectical style.The main research focuses to clarify LNC and reinterpret the paradox and physics paradoxical phenomena.The other is the philosophical style.It is to find the epistemological and ontological basis of LNC itself,and to defend it.I adopt the second research approach in this paper.The first chapter discusses the definition of LNC.The last three chapters respectively sort out the defense work of the three philosophers of Aristotle,Husserl and Jin Yuelin on LNC,in order to reveal their way of laying a philosophical foundation.The last chapter elaborates the author’s views on LNC and how to defends it.The main work and innovations of the thesis have the following four points:Firstly,there are at least three levels of LNC.There is no clear order in the positions of these three levels.The description of their relationship has presupposed a certain philosophical point of view.Secondly,I reconstruct Aristotle’s statement about the law of contradiction,and summarize it into five core arguments,and point out the shortcomings in these arguments.The research shows that the basis of LNC requires some knowledge of epistemology and ontology to explain it.Thirdly,I specially investigate Jin Yuelin’s thought on LNC in the early and late literatures,and points out the changes in Jin Yuelin’s views on contradiction laws and the different ways of argumentation.It shows that LNC can be based on some viewpoints of reflection theory and realism.The centainty of objects requires the ontological version of LNC,the latter reflects the former.Fourthly,I use the method of analytic philosophy,takes LNC as the main subject,systematically organizes Husserl’s views of LNC.I point out that formal logic is objective logic,and can resort to some kind of subjective logic.As a law of judgment form,it is necessary to find its genealogical basis in the empirical judgment content.Husserl suspended the things outside the phenomenon,and used his logic to find the basis of LNC in his so-called consciousness activity structure.Through the study of the above philosophers and the clarification of LNC,I attempt to explain that the difference in philosophical views leads to the debate on LNC.For logic,the neutrality of application is not the sourceful(fundamental)neutrality.We need to reexamine the source of LNC’s legitimacy.
