Study On Narration And Chant Of Politics In Tang Dynasty Ballads

Created by the broad working masses,the folk ballad is a type of oral verse with rhythms and tunes.Under the historical background of the whole Tang Dynasty,the folk ballads during that time have a unique characteristic of age,i.e.,a distinct political feature.In recent years,although the study of ballads has become more and more in-depth in academic circles with quite rich research results of ballads dating,yet the study on the political characteristics of ballads in Tang Dynasty is mostly focused on the analysis of its political content.Hence,after having a thorough study on literature texts of these ballads and exploring its political features with a perspective of political narration and chant,some unique political charms can be found in the ballads of the Tang Dynasty.According to the definition and classification criteria on ballads by scholars in ancient and modern times,research scope is limited to the ballads of the Tang Dynasty with political characteristics.By counting the number of political ballads of Tang Dynasty in the classics,the diachronic and regional distribution characteristics of ballads is summarized,from which the author can conclude that the ballads of Tang Dynasty have a characteristic of centralized distribution in the early and prosperous Tang Dynasty and in the cities of capital.The ballads of Tang Dynasty are mainly distributed in the early and prosperous periods,and fall into decay in the middle and late periods.Geographically,the capital city is the main distribution area with the overall regional landscape of emphasizing the north over the south.In terms of political content,ballads of the Tang Dynasty reflect the current political situation,predict political events,evaluate political figures and embody the timeliness of keeping pace with current political hot spots.The political function of the ballads in Tang Dynasty is mainly manifested in the function of publicizing with clear orientation,the function of persistent criticism and the function of imperceptible indoctrination,which exerts a crucial impact on the political life of Tang Dynasty.Ballads with politic nature in Tang Dynasty also apply varied sentence patterns and rhetorical devices as well as add the poetic tone patterns integrated with humorous styles and elements of the era,showing a humorous yet straightforward and simple narrative style.By the comparison of the political ballads between Tang Dynasty and those of pre-Tang Dynasty in terms of content,function and expression mode,it can be found that unlike other dynasties,the political characteristics of the ballads of the former are more concentrated in content,clear and effective in political functions and more mature in the means of expression.The Tang Dynasty ballads are rich and diverse in content and varied in artistic style in politics,exhibiting the characteristics of that time and forming their own unique charm,which plays an important role in exploring the political features of ballads in Tang Dynasty and the artistic value of ballad texts.
