This report is a practice report of Chinese-English translation.The original translated text is the first three stories of The Collection of Balgen-cang Stories.The story of Balgen-cang has been passed down by the Mongolian people for many years and has become a part of Mongolian culture.Balgen-cang has a positive image,and often protects the people and things around him with his wit and justice.Therefore,this story is worthy of praise.The translator translates it,which is conducive to the promotion and development of excellent culture.In this translation practice report,the translator’s difficulties in the translation process are mainly reflected in professional words,long and complex sentences and contents related to Mongolian literary and cultural background,including the translation of exclusive Mongolian names,place names and some onomatopoeic words.Meanwhile,it includes some oral sentences and long sentences closely related to Mongolian culture.Therefore,how to express the original content as accurately as possible and provide readers with a wonderful translation based on the form of Mongolian literary works has become the problem for the translator.In view of the above problems,the translator uses some translation methods and skills in combination with the professional knowledge.In terms of translating words,transliteration,literal translation and free translation are adopted.In terms of translating sentences,the translator adopts amplification and omission to make the translation accurately express the original content,and to make the translation conform to the expression habits of English.Through this translation practice,the translator has a new understanding of Mongolian text translation activities,a deeper understanding of Mongolian literature and culture,and finds out the translator’s shortcomings in the translation process.Therefore,this translation practice improves the translator’s translation level,professional ability,and interest in the translation of Mongolian literatureworks.
