With the improvement of China’s international status and rapid economic development,the international influence of Chinese language and Chinese culture is increasing day by day.As a friendly neighbor of China,Vietnam has paid more attention to Chinese language and Chinese culture.At present,the number of people studying Chinese in Vietnam is rising rapidly,and the number of colleges and universities opening Chinese departments is also increasing."Survey of China" is a compulsory course for Chinese majors in Vietnamese colleges and universities.Understanding this course’s teaching situation would be a great help to the development of Chinese teaching in Vietnam.The author once studied at Hanoi University,Vietnam,and gained a comprehensive understanding of China through this course,and developed a strong sense of a professional identity as a Chinese Panorama teacher.The author lives in Vietnam,which provides a lot of convenience for her investigation and research.The research objects of this research are three "Survey of China" teachers and 221 Vietnamese students at some Hanoi universities.Investigating and analyzing the teaching situation of the course "Survey of China" through questionnaire surveys and personal interviews.The questionnaire is composed of three parts: personal situation,the purpose of learning the "Survey of China" course,and the "Survey of China" course teaching situation.All the questionnaire survey results are statistically analyzed by SPSS software,and draw the final conclusion about the situation of the "Survey of China" course.Through the analysis of the survey results,it is known that both students and teachers are less satisfied with the teaching materials than the teacher team and teaching methods.It is generally believed that the content of the "Survey of China" textbook is relatively rigid,the data is outdated,the value of cultural communication is low,the knowledge span is relatively large,and it’s difficult to achieve the course outcomes.This research investigated,analyzed,and evaluated the textbooks of "Survey of China",the teaching team,and teaching methods,hoping to draw lessons from the current learning and teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.The thesis mainly includes four parts:The first part is the introduction,mainly introduces the origin of the research and the research content and methods and to sort out and summarize the progress made in domestic and foreign Chinese cultural teaching and related research on the "Survey of China" course.It is the background information of this research.The second part is the design and implementation of the survey of the current teaching situation of the "China Survey" course,which describes the process of research and survey in depth.Through in-depth investigations and interviews,the situation of the "Survey of China" course was analyzed,and the evaluation of the "Survey of China" by the Vietnamese teacher team was interviewed.The third part is about the problems of the "Survey of China" course,such as few curriculum arrangements,outdated teaching methods,especially the textbooks are too esoteric,with few pictures and many texts,and the content cannot keep pace with the times.The fourth part puts forward suggestions and countermeasures for the development of "Survey of China" course teaching,enrich the structure of teaching materials,increase student’s interest,adopt diversified teaching methods,and combine theory with practice to improve course teaching effects.The fifth part is the conclusion.It mainly introduces the research process,research results,new research points,and limitations of the thesis.Although the survey results have achieved some results,due to the limitations of the research,there are still many areas that need to be improved,such as the gender imbalance of the respondents.
