Rousseau is the first person to write autobiography in modern French,whose representative autobiographical work Confessions opened a new era of modern western biographical literature and had made an important influence on the development of western biographical literature for later generations.In the 1920 s,under the cultural context which influenced by the west,Rousseau entered the Chinese ideological world as a banner,and the "Rousseau fever" in literature also emerged.Confessions,the most influential work,had a great number of translated versions and has stirred up a lot of heated debates and evaluations.At the same time,influenced by Rousseau’s autobiography "Confessions",autobiographical writing has became even more popular in the modern Chinese literary world,and famous autobiography masterpieces frequently has appeared such as Yu Dafu’s Dafu Autobiography,Guo Moruo’s Moruo Autobiography and so on,which are too numerous to mention.It could be said that under the influence of Rousseau ’s Confessions,the modern Chinese autobiographical literature has experienced a development and transformation from scratch,from biography to autobiography,from tradition to modernity and from the individual to the whole,and has contributed to The prosperity and brilliance of Chinese modern autobiographical literature’s development in the 1920 s and 1930 s.This dissertation intends to start from the perspective of comparative literature’s influence research,and on the basis of compiling and collating documents,sorts out the acceptance and influence of Rousseau’s Confessions in modern Chinese autobiographical literature systematically.It mainly introduces three translated versions by Zhang Jingsheng,Wang Bingkun and Shen Qiyu,and analyzes the commentary and influence of Rousseau’s Confessions in China from Yu Dafu’s comments,Liang Shiqiu’s and Lu Xun’s debates.On this basis,using the vertical and horizontal directions of the development of literary history as the research coordinates,the author first analyzes the creation of modern Chinese autobiographical literature under the influence of Rousseau’s "Confessions" at the micro level,and uses Yu Dafu ’ s Autobiography of Dafu,Xie Bingying’s Autobiography of a Female Soldier and Guo Moruo’s Autobiography of Moruo as comparative texts separately to make a detailed analysis of how did these autobiographical works borrowed from Rousseau’s Confessions,and which parts have realized the transformation and transcendence of Rousseau ’ s Confessions with author the combination of Chinese historical and cultural context at that time and personal life experience.Finally,at the macro level,from the three perspectives of Chinese modern autobiographical writing tradition,development trend,and writing techniques for reference and innovation,the author makes a comprehensive analysis of Rousseau’s Confessions the overall impact on the development of modern Chinese autobiographical literature,in order to provide reference and basis for the study of comparative literature and the study of modern Chinese autobiographical literature.
