| Background Child neglect refers to the long-term negligence of parents or guardians to meet the basic needs and rights of children. As time goes by,the neglect is repeated, which poses a great threat to the safety, health and development of children.Studies have shown that childhood neglect and abuse are closely related to individual personality characteristics, interpersonal attribution style and self-efficacy.However,previous studies have often combined neglect with other subtypes of child maltreatment, and seldom studied neglect as an independent factor. Therefore,it is of practical significance to explore the relationship between childhood neglect, personality characteristics, interpersonal attribution style and junior high school students’ self-efficacy.Objectives 1.Investigate the demographic distribution characteristics of childhood neglect, personality characteristics, interpersonal attribution style and self-efficacy of junior middle school students,in order to explore the demographic factors affecting the four;2.Analyze the internal relationship between childhood neglect and junior high school students’ self-efficacy from the two aspects of personality characteristics and interpersonal attribution style respectively,so as to study the related effects of childhood neglect on junior high school students’ self-efficacy.Methods A total of 511 middle school students from 3 middle schools were randomly selected by group measurement. After obtaining informed consent, the subjects voluntarily completed the General Situation Inventory,Child Neglect Inventory(CNS),Personality Characteristics Inventory(EPQ),Attrition Style Inventory(MMCS)and Self-Effectiveness Inventory(SEQ).SPSS 23.0 and Process were used for data statistical analysis. Results 1.Boys scored significantly higher than girls in the emotional neglect dimension(t=0.604,P=0.042);There were significant differences in safety neglect Fage =2.855,Fage =0.037),emotional neglect(Fage =3.012,Fage =0.030)and total neglect Fage =3.267,Page =0.021)among children of different ages. There were significant differences in the dimension of physical neglect among children of different grades(Fgrade =3.597,Fgrade =0.028).The score of emotional neglect of only children was significantly lower than that of non-only children(t=0.604,P=0.042).The scores of neglected scale of single parent children were significantly higher than those of parent children(P < 0.01).Urban children and rural children have significant differences in the dimension of emotional neglect(t=0.617,P=0.042).There were significant differences in safety neglect(F=54.240,P=0.006)and total neglect(F=2.805,P=0.039)among children living with parents, grandparents, host family and three generations. There were significant differences in the total score of neglect and all dimensions among children with different fathers’ educational levels(P<0.05).Except for somatic neglect(F=1.919,P=0.106),there was no difference in maternal education level, and there were significant differences in other dimensions(P<0.01).2.There were significant differences in gender variables in extroversion(t=5.174,P=0.000),neuroticism(t=2.324,P=0.021)and psychoticism(t=2.152,P=0.040);The scores of neuroticisms(F=3.182,P=0.024)and psychoticism(F=6.068,P=0.000)were significantly different among children of different ages. There were significant differences in the scores of extroversions(F=3.314,P=0.036)and psychosis(F=9.163,P=0.000)among children of different grades. The scores of children’s concealment dimension were significantly different in different places of origin(t =-2.095,P=0.037).The scores of introversion dimension were significantly different in the variables of father’s education level(F=5.188,P=0.002).There were significant differences in the scores of dissemble(F=2.793,P=0.040)and introversion(F=3.875,P=0.009).3.Female students were significantly higher than male students in the total score of attribution style(t=0.296,P=0.015);The difference of internal attribution dimension was significant among different genders(t=0.450,P=0.047).The scores of effort dimension in different age groups were significantly different(F=5.457,P=0.001).There were significant differences in ability scores(F=3.673,P=0.026),effort scores(F=3.630,P=0.027)and luck scores(F=5.416,P=0.005)among children in different grades.Children with fathers with different educational levels had significant differences in scores of ability dimension(F=3.247,P=0.022).4.There were significant differences in children’s self-efficacy in the educational level of their parents(Ffather =6.825,P=0.000)(Fmother =7.061,P=0.000).5.The dimensions and total scores of the childhood neglect scale were significantly correlated with the dimensions of the personality characteristics scale, total scores of interpersonal attribution and total scores of self-efficacy of junior high school students(P<0.05).6.The mediating effect of the introversion dimension of personality traits being neglected in childhood was significant with the self-efficacy of junior high school students, and the mediating effect size was-0.0012;The external attribution dimension of interpersonal attribution style has a significant mediating effect on the neglect of childhood and junior high school students’ self-efficacy,and the mediating effect size was 0.0018.Conclusions 1.The level of children’s neglect is affected by gender, age, grade, whether they are the only child, their parents’ marital status, their place of origin, who they live with in the past year and their parents’ educational level. The emotional neglect of male students is higher than that of female students. With the growth of age,the neglect of children increases; There are differences in physical neglect among children of different grades. The emotional neglect of only children is lower than that of non-only children. The neglect of single parent children is higher than that of parents. There are differences in the dimension of emotional neglect among children from different places of origin.Child safety neglect is different in who lives with them in the last year; The total score and dimensions of children’s neglect are significantly different in different fathers’ educational levels. There was no significant difference in physical neglect among children with different maternal educational levels.2.Children’s personality characteristics are affected by age, gender, grade and place of origin. As children grow older, their scores of psychosis and neuroticism increase; The scores of introversion, neuroticism and psychosis of female students were higher than those of male students. The higher the grade, the higher the mental quality score, the lower the grade, the higher the inward and outward inclination score;Rural children scored higher on concealment than urban children.3.Junior high school students feel the influence of their parents’ educational level on their self-efficacy.The higher their parents’ educational level is,the higher their children’s self-efficacy will be.4.Children’s attributional style is influenced by age, grade and father’s educational level. The younger the age,the more inclined to internal attribution; With the increase of grade, children’s attributional style tends to ability. The higher the father’s educational level, the more children’s attributional style is inclined to effort.5.The degree of childhood neglect directly affects junior high school students’ sense of self-efficacy,and it can also indirectly affect junior high school students’ sense of self-efficacy through introversion and external attribution. |
