War Brides: Study On The Immigrants Of Japanese-american Women After World War Ⅱ

After The World War II,Japan,as a defeated country,was occupied by the American-led army(the official occupation time was 1945-1952).During the occupation period,Japanese women intersected and married foreign soldiers because of their life,work and social needs,which had led to cross-border/cross-cultural marriage.Because the occupation forces are mostly male,these exotic women married to foreign male soldiers in the post-war reconstruction period were collectively referred to as "war brides ".This paper takes the group of American-Japanese war brides as the research object,combs the strange scene of war marriage,and further analyzes the stereotype and negative label of this group through its living situation before and after going to the United States.The first chapter mainly narrates the background and reasons of the appearance of American-Japanese war brides.The second chapter mainly describes the process of family reunion between the United States and its foreign husbands according to the changes of American immigration policy towards Japan.The third chapter gives a detailed overview of the life,employment and marriage of American-Japanese war brides after going to the United States.The fourth chapter mainly compares the American and Japanese society towards war brides,and understands the evaluation of this group in different times.The article holds that the emergence of American-Japanese war brides is a product of a special historical period,comparing with the war brides in other countries,the Japanese war brides suffered a lot of criticism and negation from the beginning of their relationship to the time with their husband to the United States,because of the influence of RAA sex service industry,different national positions in wartime,color race,traditional marriage concept and so on,which made some American-Japanese war brides mentally hurt.However,the emergence and development of the American-Japanese war brides groups accelerated the transformation of American immigration policy to Japan,and the image of the ambassador for marriage freedom and cultural communication gradually diluted the original negative image.
