Based on the peer feedback theory in Second Language Acquisition(SLA),this diachronic study aims to explore the process and effect of student interpreters’ skill acquisition. To this end, this study is to answer the following three questions: 1.How does the interpreting accuracy of the student interpreters in the experimental group and the control group change after the experiment? 2.How does the interpreting fluency of the student interpreters in the experimental group and the control group change after the experiment? 3.How does peer feedback affect student interpreters’ development of self-awareness?This experiment report uses 28 students as the subjects who major in translation for year three from a foreign language university in northeast China. These 28 students are randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group and then trained interpreting for ten weeks. The major findings are as follows: 1.After the experiment, the interpreting fluency of both groups improved, but that of those in the experiment group improved in a steady and significant way.2.The interpreting fluency of student interpreters in the experiment group improved significantly, because they effectively absorbed the suggestions from peers, while the control group didn’t change much.3.Peer feedback can significantly improve the self-awareness of student interpreters. After peer feedback training, student interpreters’ interpreting ability will improve. At the same time, student interpreters who review peers pay more attention to peers’ errors to avoid similar problems. This study focuses on the process and effect of student interpreters’ interpretation acquisition with peer feedback training, which has practical value for student interpreters acquisition process. This experiment guides student interpreters to improve their interpretation performance with peer feedback and provides reference for interpretation teaching.
