| Cognitive control refers to a set of higher cognitive functions that successfully coordinate basic functions such as sensation, attention, and motor processes. The dual control theory in order to explain the numerous intra-individual differences and inter-individual differences in the field of cognitive control. The reason why individuals mobilize cognitive control is that it is directly related to the use of cognitive control can bring pleasant or adaptive results, and avoid unpleasant results. This means that different reward conditions may trigger different levels of motivation of individuals, thus further affecting the level of cognitive control. The level of motivation is closely related to individual factors.Sensory seeking,as a personality tendency to explore strange and stimulating situations, generally appears in the form of desire and behavioral motivation.Once triggered by a specific situation,it is easy to make the individual in an emotional state of excitement, which is manifested as the expectation of the individual to achieve some goals. And the reason why individuals mobilize cognitive control is that it is directly related to the use of cognitive control to bring about pleasant or adaptive outcomes and to avoid unpleasant outcomes. This suggests that different reward conditions may trigger different levels of motivation, which further affects cognitive control. In most of the studies, these influencing factors were only observed and discussed independently, and were not compared after comprehensive reasons. The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of sensory seeking as a personality factor and different reward conditions on cognitive control. In the first study,we combined two different reward conditions, monetary reward and social reward,to explore the effects of different dimensions of reward conditions on the trade-off strategies of individuals’ cognitive control.A three-factor inter subject design of3(reward condition: baseline, monetary reward, social reward)×2(reward cue: with reward,no reward)×4(AX,AY,BX,BY)was used. The dependent variables were the response time and error rate of the subjects in the letter sequence(AX,AY,BX,BY).The results showed that both financial and social reward conditions promoted cognitive performance and made individuals more inclined to proactive control, and the bias caused by participants’ proactive control was an over-all phenomenon.Compared with social rewards, monetary rewards can make individuals tend to stronger proactive control. To further explore the role of personality related individual differences in explaining the tendency of initiative and reactive control behavior.A three-factor inter participant design of2(sensation seeking: high score, low score)×2(reward cue: with reward,no reward)×4(letter sequence: AX,AY,BX,BY)was used in the experiment. The dependent variables were the response time and error rate of the subjects in the letter sequence(AX,AY,BX,BY).The results showed that monetary reward could make both high and low sensation-seeking individuals more inclined to proactive control, and there was no significant difference in cognitive control bias between the two groups. These results indicate that motivational environment has a significant influence on individual cognitive control trade-offs.Secondly,individuals have different degrees of motivation under different reward conditions.Compared with social reward, monetary reward has a greater influence on individuals. Finally,it has not been found that the influence of monetary reward on the personality trait of sensation seeking, and it has not been observed that individuals with high sensation seeking show a stronger proactive control tendency. |
