The Image Construction Of Family And National Feelings In Ordinary People’s Documentaries

General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized the importance of family building,advocating the unification of love for family and love for country,and the integration of personal development into the development of the motherland and the nation.As an important part of China’s excellent traditional culture,family love has strong contemporary significance in many aspects such as promoting higher civic awareness,building happy and fulfilling families,and enhancing the cohesion of the Chinese nation.In October 2014,Xi Jinping’s speech at the Symposium on literature and art pointed out the direction for the broad masses of literary and art workers,so that the cause of literature and art,including documentary,flourished.The struggle of Chinese people to realize the Chinese dream with a strong sense of the times has made documentary creators more favorable,and documentaries on ordinary people have developed significantly,presenting viewers with the image of ordinary people who are simple and resilient.They manifest their family sentiment on the one hand by trying to lead a good life,and on the other hand by doing their duty and silent dedication,making extraordinary careers in their ordinary positions.This article analyzes the image construction of family sentiment in the documentary of ordinary people by combining the graduation work "Veteran Zuo Wuzheng" and related documentaries of ordinary people.The article focuses on four aspects,firstly,the concept of general character documentary and family sentiment is explained;secondly,the main features of family sentiment in general character documentary and the values it contains are analyzed from three aspects: filial piety to treat relatives,loyalty to serve the country and national identity;the last two chapters explore the specific ways of image construction of family sentiment from narrative and audiovisual language.The last two chapters discuss the specific ways of constructing images of family sentiment from narrative and audio-visual language.The narrative level is discussed from three aspects: narrative elements,narrative structure and narrative techniques;the audio-visual language is analyzed by selecting representative close-ups and empty shots,narration and music.The purpose of this paper is to provide effective experiences and methods for constructing family sentiments in the creation of future documentaries about ordinary people.
