| The development of Confucius Institutes has always attracted the attention of scholars at home and abroad.Especially in the context of China’s rapid economic growth and major initiatives such as the “Belt and Road Initiative”,the opportunities and challenges of the development of Confucius Institutes have attracted more people from all fields to do study and research. There have been four Confucius Institute in the Philippines, each of which has its own school-running characteristics and course types. As the first Confucius Institute in the Philippines to build a major of ‘Chinese Teacher Program’ in the Philippines, the Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation is leading and unique. At the same time,Angeles University Foundation and other Confucius Institutes in the Philippines both offer university Chinese elective courses and social Chinese courses,so they have commonality. The Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation has been in development for eight years, and there is still much room for improvement. The major of ‘Chinese Teacher Program’ is facing a bottleneck period of enrollment suspension. The teaching effect and impact of Chinese courses for college elective and social classes have had little effect. Therefore, the author uses questionnaires and interviews to investigate the current situation of the Chinese curriculum of the Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation,to analyze the current problems of the Chinese curriculum of the Confucius Institute, and to think about these problems from the perspective of the Confucius Institute, teachers and students, then trying to put forward targeted countermeasures.Through the investigation,it is found that the problems of the current curriculum of the Confucius Institute mainly focus on teaching content, teaching progress, teaching methods, teaching evaluation, and teaching management.Based on this, the author proposes "developing targeted continuous teaching materials, refining teaching objectives, standardized curriculum outline, and multi-assessment of teaching”,in order to provide a reference for the subsequent Chinese teaching and curriculum arrangement of the Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation, and to provide reference for other Confucius Institutes in the Philippines based on the experience of the Confucius Institute at Angeles University Foundation. |
