German neo-expressionism is an art school born in the late 1970 s and early 1980 s.In this genre,many painters were involved in the creation of prints,and the materials of traditional prints were expanded and experimented to a certain extent.Taking georg baselitz and Anselm kiefer as examples,this paper starts with the analysis of the performance of their printmaking language in the comprehensive painting,and summarizes the characteristics of the comprehensive printmaking art language of the two artists,and explores the spiritual essence embodied in their works.In this way,people can understand the development direction of German painting art after the end of the second world war,and it is also helpful for current art practitioners to understand different cultures and concepts from multiple perspectives,and help them to continuously improve and progress in combination with their own cultural context and artistic language.This paper has five parts.The first part is the introduction,including the reasons for the topic,the review of the current research status of relevant literature,and the research methods of this paper.The second part is the content of the first chapter.In this chapter,the author mainly focuses on the reasons for the birth of the new expressionism in Germany.By analyzing the social environment when the new expressionism came into being and the trend of the return of figurative painting,the author introduces the concept of comprehensive printmaking and its connection with the new expressionism painting.The third part is the second chapter,which discusses the artistic thought of baselitz and the comprehensive development of print style and print language.In the fourth part,the third chapter,the author focuses on kiefer’s understanding of materials and his view of history in creation,and focuses on kiefer’s attempt to combine printmaking language with comprehensive materials.Finally,the fifth part,the fourth chapter,mainly expounds the impact of the creation of baselitz and kiefer on the author’s artistic practice,as well as the author’s own comprehensive printmaking ideas,material performance,creative methods and creative experience.
