English Curriculum Standards for Ordinary Senior High Schools(2017)further improves and refines the requirements of students’ listening ability.In addition,more attention has also been paid to personalized teaching.Many studies show that the listening strategy training is beneficial to the improvement of students’ listening comprehension,while the selection of four kinds of problem preview modes,including full question preview,question stem preview,answer option preview and no question preview,can help to respond to the call of personalized teaching better.Therefore,this study attempts to explore the influence of targeted listening strategy training on listening comprehension of senior high school students at different levels based on the selection of problem preview modes.Based on cognitive strategies of listening strategies and relevant theories about problem preview modes,this study attempts to explore the following three questions:1)What influences will the selection of problem preview modes bring to the listening comprehension of students at different levels?2)What listening strategies do students tend to use in different problem preview modes?3)What influences will the pertinence practice of specific listening strategies bring to the listening comprehension of students at different levels?This study collected relevant data through literature research,experiment,questionnaire survey and interview and chose 108 students from Class 13 and Class 14 of Grade 1 in Jinjiang No.1 middle school of Fujian province as research subjects,in which Class 13 was the control class,and Class 14 was the experimental class.The research finds that:(1)different problem preview modes in listening would affect students’ listening comprehension at different levels.The advanced students got the highest listening scores in question stem preview mode,while the middle-level students and low-level students got the highest listening scores in full question preview mode.(2)students at different levels tended to use different listening strategies in specific problem preview modes.In the mode of question stem preview,the high-level students tended to use listening strategies like inference,association,imagery,recombination,deductive application and note-taking.The middle-level students tended to use the strategies of association,deductive application and transference in full question preview mode.And the low-level students tended to use the strategies of deductive application and transference in full question preview mode;(3)targeted training of listening strategies could indeed affect the listening comprehension of students at different levels,and such influence could help improve students’ listening comprehension.This study has the theoretical significance to further enrich the studies of listening strategies and problem preview modes and the practical value to provide a new way of thinking for listening teaching in senior high school,that is,in the listening teaching of senior high school,different problem preview modes and targeted training of listening strategies can be selected for students at different levels.
