Gender role types look at gender differences in psychology and behavior from the perspective of gender traits.Different from biological gender,gender role types are a kind of gender classification,which are influenced by social factors.Some researchers have suggested that gender role types could explain the differences in time perceptive between the sexes.However,no scholars have focused on the impact of gender role types on a specific time frame,such as future time perspective.In addition,it can be found that personal growth initiative,as an individual’s psychological tendency to actively seek for change,is closely related to future time insight.This study adopted questionnaire method and explored the impact of gender role types on future time perspective by taking adolescent students as the research object,which vocational high school students and high school students are as respective.The main research purpose is to investigate the influence of gender role types among adolescent students on future time perspective and intermediary role of personal growth initiative.So this thesis provides a new idea for understanding on the impact of gender role types on the future time perspective,and also provides a feasible research direction for mental health work on the adolescent students.In this study,Firstly,885 adolescent students are invested through Sex Role Inventory(CSRI-50),Adolescent Students’ Personal Growth Initiative Questionnaire and Future Time Perspective Questionnaire so as to know the overall situation in adolescent students.Also,the differences on demographic variable of adolescent students’ future time perspective,personal growth initiative and gender role types were analyzed.Secondly,the correlation between gender role types,personal growth initiative and future time perspective were investigated.Finally,we made a medium analysis which is suitable for independent variable of more than two category.The results are as follows:(1)On the whole,the distribution of adolescent gender role types is mainly undifferentiated and androgynous,with more undifferentiated and androgynous boys and more undifferentiated and feminine girls.The overall level of future time perspective is good,in which the average score of planning is the highest and the average score of negativity is the lowest.The personal growth initiative level is good,among which the average score of growth toughness is the highest,and the average score of growth obstacle is the lowest.(2)The future time perspective of adolescent students shows significant difference in gender,birthplace,whether or not acting as managers from pupils,and grade.In terms of gender,boys’ clarity and directionality are significantly higher than girls’.In terms of birthplace,the negativity of urban students was significantly higher than that of rural students.In terms of whether or not acting as managers from pupils,the students who hold the position of class cadre are significantly higher than those who are not in the dimension of clarity,positivity,directionality and planning.In terms of grade,the senior one students show more negativity than senior two and three students,while there was no grade difference in vocational high school students.(3)The personal growth initiative of adolescent students shows significant difference in gender,birthplace,the only child,whether or not acting as managers from pupils,and grade.In terms of gender,boys’ growth path are significantly higher than girls’.In terms of birthplace,the growth obstacle of urban students was significantly higher than that of rural students.In terms of whether or not being the only child,the only child students are significantly lower than those who are not the only child in growth toughness.In terms of whether or not acting as managers from pupils,the students who hold the position of class cadre are significantly higher than those who are not in the dimension of growth obstacle,growth toughness,growth path and initiative change.In terms of grade,the senior one students show more negativity than senior two and three students,while there was no grade difference in vocational high school students.(4)There were significant differences in the personal growth initiative and future time perspective among adolescent students in different gender role types.The results showed that the androgyny personal growth initiative and future time insight were significantly higher than the undifferentiated and feminine ones in both the total score and each dimension.(5)Significantly positive correlation was found among gender role types,personal growth initiative and future time perspective.(6)This study found that adolescent gender role types can significantly influence individuals’ future time perspective,and personal growth initiatives can partially mediate the influence of gender role types on future time perspective.This conclusion supports the theoretical model of androgyny.
