The Intentionality Explanation On The Generation And Understanding Of Body-emotion Metonymy Language Expression

Body emotional metonymic language expression is a kind of body-emotional language expression.It uses the behavior of body,limbs and face to metonymy emotion.It is a common language phenomenon in reality.However,the academic community has not paid enough attention to it.Based on the existing relevant research,this paper constructs an intentionality framework which can analyze the generation and understanding process of body emotional metonymy language expression,mainly based on intentionality theory and supplemented by the core principles of cognitive linguistics.Qualitative analysis is used to observe the language phenomenon of body emotional metonymy,and corpus comes from BCC,network and excellent papers.This paper focus on the essential features and the process of generation and understanding of body emotional metonymy language,and the diversity of vehicles and the phenomenon of mind perception embodied in the process of generation and understanding.It aims to reveal the cognitive mechanism inside the language phenomenon and some characteristics of human thinking reflected behind it.Major findings: syntactic structure of body-emotional language expression is mainly composed of verb(V),noun(N)and adjective(ADJ).Among them,verb(V)is divided into transitive verb and intransitive verb,which mainly describes human body action.Nouns mainly describe human’s body parts and facial organs,while adjectives mostly describe human’s emotions and colors.Under the guidance of intentional framework,the process of generation and understanding is the result of subject’s cognitive processing and interaction with reality.Due to the influence of relevant factors,the formation and semantic understanding of the language expression are uncertain.Restricted by subjectivity and differences in cognitive processing,the expression of body emotion metonymy has diversity in the process of formation,which is reflected as follows: the same emotion can be expressed in multiple body emotional metonymy language forms;different cognitive subjects will produce different emotions for the same objective event,and finally form different body emotional metonymy language expressions.The differences of semantic understanding are as follows: the same body emotional metonymic language expression can express multiple emotions;different cognitive subjects have different understanding of the same body emotional language expression.The research shows that this study deepens the understanding of the essential features of body emotion metonymic to a certain extent,and proves that the intentionality framework has a strong explanatory power on the semantic features of body emotion metonymic language expression from the perspective of cognition,which provides a new reference for the further study of body emotional metonymy.
