| As an essential skill for high school students to master,English writing is one of the most important teaching parts in high school.In recent years,an increasing amount of studies have shown that it is of great significance for students to accumulate knowledge on the different writing genres and possess an awareness of the writing process.The process genre approach,which integrates the characteristics of product approach,process approach and genre approach,attaches importance to the input of students’ knowledge on writing genres and the cultivation of an awareness of the writing process.Therefore,this approach can effectively improve the English writing level of the students.This study takes students from classes 9 and 12 of Yichang Yiling High School’s grade 1as the research subjects.Through the writing teaching practice with the process genre approach for a period of three months,it aims to explore the effects of the process genre approach on students’ writing attitude,writing habits and writing level.First of all,the author uses a questionnaire to understand students’ writing attitude and writing habits.Secondly,the author launches the teaching experiment for three months,during which the process genre approach is adopted in class 9(experimental class),and the traditional product approach is adopted in class 12(control class).Lastly,with the completion of the teaching experiment,the writing of the students from the two classes is tested and the students from the experimental class are investigated through a questionnaire and interview.Through the statistical analysis of the experimental data by SPSS 25.0,it is shown that the students from the experimental class which adopts the process genre approach see improvements in their English writing attitude and habits,and improve writing level.Based on the results of this study,the teaching implications are made as follows: firstly,teachers should use the process genre approach flexibly to carry out writing teaching according to the actual teaching situation;secondly,when teachers use the process genre approach to organize classroom activities,they should cultivate students’ cooperative learning ability;finally,while using the process genre approach to evaluate writing,teachers should adopt a variety of evaluation forms. |
