In the Southern Song Dynasty,Liao Yingzhong’s Shi Caitang carved a book called The Collection of Mr.Changli(referred to as Shi Caitang Ben),which is a finely engraved collection of Han Yu’s works. The edition now in the National Library of China is the only one at home and abroad, and it is also the last comprehensive book about Han Yu’s works in the existing Song Dynasty block copy.As one of the most used blockbusters by later generations,it is controversial in the source and value of the annotations and needs to be clarified.Theoretically speaking,to study the source of annotation in Shi Caitang Edition,we need to use all the existing collections of Han Yu’s works in Song Dynasty to compare and examine them one by one.In this process,we can not only find the commonness and differences of the relevant collections of Han Yu’s works in Southern Song Dynasty, but also judge the contents belonging to this book, and then study the true characteristics and value of this book. Therefore, this paper selects the annotations in this book’s poems and prose poems as the research object, and makes a comprehensive discussion on its annotation characteristics and value on the basis of comprehensively combing its annotation sources. The full text is divided into four chapters:The first chapter traces the source of the annotation of poetry and prose poems. For the sake of caution,it can be divided into two categories: definite sources and doubtful sources. It presents the number and frequency of words it quotes from other books in the form of tables. This chapter also points out the main quoted contents of Liao Yingzhong’s annotations in each book, and summarizes the phenomenon of Han Yu studies in Fujian during the Southern Song Dynasty. The second chapter studies the relationship between Shi Caitang Ben and its source annotation. This chapter selects two engravings, the first is the New Printed Detailing Changli Collection(referred to as Wendang Ben)by Wendang and Wangchou, which is not mentioned in the academic circles, and the second is the Han Changli’s Works Differences Comprasion(referred to as Zhu Ben)written by Zhu Xi,who is controversial in the academic circlesand the possibility of Liao Yingzhong’s adoption of it is speculated from the perspective of writing and book circulation, and the new relationship between Zhu Ben and other scholars is also explored. The third chapter studies its annotation methods and ideas. In fact, the annotation method of Shitangben is its rewriting method of other annotated editions, including six ways: full adoption, excerpt, reorganization, supplement, simplification and complication. This chapter also uses the theory of "potential readers" and "expectation horizon" in reception aesthetics to summarize the annotation concepts of "both proofreading and annotation","abandoning the easy to seek simplicity" and "making up for shortcomings and omissions" embodied in this book, and points out the contradiction between annotations and concepts caused by Liao Yingzhong’s failure to study rigorously and seek truth from facts. The fourth chapter discusses its value, influence and deficiency. It has the artistic value of cultural relics, edition value, collation value and literature value, and it also has a certain influence on later generations’ ideas and schools of book collection,as well as poetry anthology in Qing Dynasty. In addition to the above advantages, this annotation has some defects, such as self-contradiction,different styles and improper deletion.
