| With the continuous progress of social development, people’s spiritual and cultural life is becoming more and more abundant. The educational status of all age groups has attracted significant attention from governments of all countries.Even the education of disabled children as a disadvantaged group cannot be ignored.Among the nearly 4million disabled children in my country, children with hearing and speech disabilities account for an extremely high proportion.Disability darkens the world of these children who should have had a happy childhood. The intonation and auditory law proposed in the book Verbotonal Speech Treatment is a method based on hearing to maximize the hearing ability of children who are deaf or have a hearing impairment. The intonation hearing method aims at developing the oral expression ability of deaf and hard of hearing children through binaural hearing, promote their auditory perception of language rhythm, tone, and speech production.Verbotonal Speech Treatment is an academic text in the category of applied linguistics. As an essential part of the language discipline, applied linguistics is highly professional and practical.Functional equivalence translation theory was proposed by Eugene Nida, who is known as the "father of modern translation theory" in the West. The translator takes the functional equivalence translation theory proposed by Eugene Nida as guidance, and uses the four aspects of dynamic equivalence in theory(dynamic equivalence at the lexical level, syntactic level, textual level and stylistic level).Translator carry out translation on the basis of these four principles, and the ultimate goal of translation is to achieve the equivalence of communicative functions.Verbotonal Speech Treatment is a text in applied linguistics, which contains many professional vocabularies, which is in line with the requirement of "lexical equivalence" in Nida’s functional equivalence translation theory.Secondly,in terms of the content of the source text, intonation hearing therapy is suitable for children with hearing impairments to helpthem learn a language. Therefore, the text is convenient efficient and requires translators to be able to introduce the operating instructions of intonation and hearing therapy clearly and quickly, which is in line with the requirement of "syntactic equivalence" in Nida’s functional equivalence translation theory. That is to say,the difference between Chinese and English should be considered, and the singular and plural nouns, verb tenses, and the order and combination of clauses should be adjusted appropriately when translating so as to achieve syntactic equivalence.Furthermore, many teaching experiments and tests on intonation and hearing in the source text requires the translator to get familiar with the context and situation context. This fits with the third level of "textual equivalence" in "functional equivalence".Therefore, the translator chooses to use Nida’s functional equivalence theory as guidance to translate the book Verbotonal Speech Treatment. Therefore, the translator chose Nida’s functional equivalence theory to guide the translation practice of the book Verbotonal Speech Treatment(Chapter1-3),and realized the functional equivalence at the lexical, syntactic and textual level between the source text and the translated text of applied linguistics. |
