Images of immortal mountains were widely popular in the decoration system of Han Dynasty tombs and in the decoration of everyday utensils, and can be found in the murals of tombs, portrait masonry and many daily objects and burial goods.Depending on the subject matter and the ideological beliefs underlying them, the style of Han Dynasty landscape images also varied, and can be divided into those depicting the world of the immortals and those depicting natural life. The theme of immortal mountains is mostly represented as Kunlun or Penglai, and sometimes also depicts the world of immortal birds and beasts as a symbol, depicting the immortal realm in the hearts of Han Dynasty people;natural landscapes mainly show the scenes of human production and life in nature, mostly reflecting the harmonious scenes of man and nature.Whether it is immortal mountains or natural landscapes, the Han dynasty’s tireless depiction of their images conveys the beautiful desire to be blessed by nature in life and to enter into immortality in death. From the connection and development trend among various periods and regions,we can see that the style of landscape images and their evolution are closely related to the Han Dynasty’s idea of immortality, thus playing a conceptual role with their specific connotation, and becoming an entity with abstract meaning on the way of people’s pursuit of immortality. As the mature period of landscape images and the budding period of landscape painting in the Han Dynasty, its style, based on previous studies, can be seen through the analysis of landscape images in the Han Dynasty, different landscape images contain different ideological beliefs and aesthetic concepts, and their refinement and deeper analysis can help us to explore the ideas of Han Dynasty people in social life, faith ideals and funeral concepts in a deeper way.
