Analysis Of Music And Performing Techniques Of Marimba Solo "Velocities"

This paper discusses the difficulties I encountered in playing technique and the solutions in the process of practicing the work "Velocities" created by Joseph schwantner.The music of this first work is characterized by an ever-expanding hierarchy,with rapidly emerging notes and ever-changing melodies within a fixed frame.It is seemingly simple but often requires the player’s strong playing ability.Through a long time of practice and searching for information,I found many details,such as the use of specific fingering in the work,the choice of mallet,music performance and so on.I hope that my discussion can provide some references for other performers to perform or study this first work in the future.
