| According to the English Curriculum Standard(2017)issued by the Ministry of Education in 2018,the core accomplishment of English subject mainly includes four aspects with language ability,cultural character,thinking quality and learning ability.This is a new challenge for high school students in rural areas with weak foundations and lack of educational resources.If they want to realize "bend overtaking",they need to not only pay attention to the mastery of basic knowledge,but also need to consider how to cultivate and improve individual comprehensive language use ability,thinking ability and comprehensive quality.In the actual teaching process,guiding students to actively participate in English reading class within the model of group cooperative learning is a high-frequency teaching method,which conforms to the basic idea of "highlighting students’ subjectivity" in the new English curriculum standard,breaks the traditional teachers-centered mode and encourages students to gradually realize selfimprovement through mutual communication and cooperation.Based on the background information,this paper preliminarily refers to the research results at home and abroad of group cooperative learning and teaching efficiency.It is conducted by social constructivism theory,social interdependence theory and other related theories.Starting from the actual situation of English reading in rural senior high schools,the author will apply group cooperative learning to the teaching of English reading in rural senior high schools and conduct experiments and investigations on the following issues.1.Can group cooperative learning enhance students’ interest in reading and arouse their enthusiasm? 2.Can group cooperative learning improve students’ English reading grades? 3.Compared with the traditional English reading teaching,what are the characteristics of group cooperative learning in rural high school English reading teaching?Thirty-two students of Class 2005,Grade 1 in Tianzhen Experimental Middle School are the objects of study.This article will find the application situation of cooperative learning in English reading teaching in rural areas through means of questionnaire survey,teachers’ interview,individual case analysis,pre-test,and post-test.The role of teachers,the sense of students,the ways,effectiveness,rational division,learning content and evaluation of group cooperative learning are mentioned.Finally,all the experimental data are collected and comparative analysis are conducted to draw conclusions.The results of this study are as follows.1.Students have a positive attitude towards cooperative learning teaching methods.They have strong motivation for learning during the reading process,actively cooperate,and have great enthusiasm in learning.2.The English reading grades of the post-test is higher than that of the pre-test,which shows that the teaching method of group cooperative learning in the English reading teaching could improve the learning grades of rural high school students.3.For large-class English classroom in rural areas where teaching conditions and student foundations are weak,the remarkable feature of English reading teaching under the model of group cooperative learning is that it can be student-centered,enhance the autonomous learning ability of rural students,and focus on improving students Core literacy quality. |
