With the development of Internet technology and the popularity of mobile phones,varieties of vocabulary analysis and learning apps have emerged in the market recently.The vocabulary apps have been welcomed by more and more English learners with its efficient learning experience.Among them,Baicizhan is one of the most popular applications.Compared with traditional vocabulary learning methods,learning English vocabulary with vocabulary learning software is more interesting and personalized.Vocabulary learning software uses modern information technology to provide learners with abundant vocabulary learning resources and new ways of learning and communication.Vocabulary is the foundation of language learning and the prerequisite for developing various skills such as listening,speaking,reading and writing.In English learning practice of senior high school,vocabulary learning is one of the important and difficult parts.The majority of the high school students think that vocabulary learning is to memorize the vocabulary lists mechanically,so their vocabulary learning method is monotonous and they have very weak awareness of the vocabulary learning strategies.Because of a lack of effective and various vocabulary learning strategies,some high school students complain that it is hard to further master the words and the words forgetting rate is very high.Even though they indeed memorize the words,they still don’t know how to use them correctly.In addition,many English teachers only focus on teaching vocabulary knowledge instead of motivating students’ awareness of vocabulary learning strategies and the guidance of learning strategies.Therefore,it is necessary to make further surveys and do some research on the vocabulary learning strategies of senior high school students.This research is based on the Vocabulary learning Strategies and Multimodal discourse analysis theories.Through questionnaires,experiments and interviews,the research aims to explore the effectiveness of applying Baicizhan APP to senior high students’ English vocabulary learning and do researches on the influence of Baicizhan for the students’ vocabulary learning strategies.The questions of this research are about how the software influences the students’ choices and applications of the vocabulary learning strategies,and what are the significant differences in the choices and applications of the vocabulary learning strategies between the experimental class and the control class? What are the reasons for the differences?This research selects 130 high school students as the experimental subjects who are from two parallel classes of a high school in Fuling Chongqing.The students in experimental class learn the words with the assistance of Baicizhan,while the control class learn the words by applying traditional ways.In the early stage of the experiment,the author use a questionnaire to do a survey of the students’ vocabulary learning strategies.Meanwhile,the students take the first comprehensive preliminary test.And then the author applies the Baicizhan APP to English vocabulary teaching and the students’ vocabulary learning.In the middle of the experiment,the students take the second vocabulary comprehensive proficiency test.At the end of the experiment,the students take the third vocabulary comprehensive proficiency test and fill out the second learning strategies questionnaire.After collecting and analyzing the data of the tests and questionnaires,the author find that Baicizhan APP has a positive effect on the choices and applications of the vocabulary learning strategies for the high school students.Compared with the control class,the experimental class’ students make great progress in the applications of planning,self-supervision and cooperative strategies which belong to the meta-cognitive strategies.And the Baicizhan APP can also promote their phonics strategies,association strategies,resource strategies and application strategies.Compared with the traditional vocabulary learning method,using Baicizhan APP to learn vocabulary is beneficial to improving the students’ English vocabulary comprehensive level.It is also helpful for students to get a better English performance and have a good English learning effect.
