The estimation of group cooperation behavior will affect the individual’s own cooperation behavior. Some studies have found that people generally underestimate group prosociality.Social value orientation is an important individual factor in cooperative research.Individuals with different social value orientation make different decisions in social dilemma. The willingness to cooperate and the reward for cooperation from the group will influence the behavior of individuals with different social value orientations. This study will investigate whether there is underestimation of group cooperation behavior by individuals with different social value orientations and the influence of group cooperation willingness and cooperation reward on the accuracy of group cooperation behavior estimation by individuals with different social value orientations. The present study consists of two experiments.Experiment 1 tentatively explores how individuals with different social value orientations estimate group cooperation behavior and its estimation accuracy.A single-factor interparticipant design was used in the experiment. The independent variables were social value orientation(prosocial, proself),and the dependent variables were cooperation rate, estimated rate of group cooperation behavior, and estimated deviation.Experiment a total of 1494 subjects completed adapted version of the prisoner’s dilemma game and three edge measuring task,it was found that individual prosocial and proself generally underestimate the cooperative behavior of groups, prosocial individual degree of deviation to estimate the group cooperative behavior was significantly lower than proself individual, prosocial individual to the group cooperative behavior estimation accuracy is higher than proself individual. The level of cooperation of prosocial individuals was significantly higher than that of proself individuals, and the level of betrayal was significantly lower than that of proself individuals.Experiment 2 investigated the effects of group cooperation intention and cooperation reward on the estimation and accuracy of group cooperation behavior by individuals with different social value orientations.Experiment 2 used a mixed experimental design of 2(social value orientation: prosocial, proself)× 2(cooperative reward: high, low)× 3(group cooperative intention: high, medium, low),independent variables between social value orientation for the participants, reward and group cooperation intention for participants in variable, dependent variable for cooperation rate, ratio of estimate of the group cooperative behavior and the estimation deviation value.A total of 82 participants completed the modified Prisoner’s Dilemma game. The results showed that prosocial individuals had higher estimates of group cooperation than proself individuals. The higher the reward for cooperation, the higher the individual’s estimation of group cooperation; The higher the group cooperation willingness, the higher the individual’s estimation of group cooperation behavior. In the estimation accuracy of group cooperation behavior, the higher the reward for cooperation, the smaller the deviation degree of individual’s estimation of group cooperation behavior, and the more accurate the estimation. The lower the willingness to cooperate in a group, the smaller the deviation degree of the individual’s estimation of the cooperative behavior is,and the more accurate the estimation is.In the low reward condition, the accuracy of estimating the cooperation rate of 77%,62%,and 47% of the groups was lower than that of prosocial individuals, but it was not different from that of prosocial individuals in the high reward condition. The accuracy of prosocial individuals’ estimation of group cooperation rate in the medium and low group cooperation willingness situation is not different from that of the proself individuals, but it is higher than that of the proself individuals in the high group cooperation willingness situation. In conclusion, the cooperation level of prosocial individuals is higher than that of proself individuals.Individuals underestimate group cooperation behavior, but prosocial individuals estimate group cooperation behavior more accurately than proself individuals.Cooperative reward and willingness to cooperate in groups affect the accuracy of estimation of group cooperation behavior by individuals with different social value orientations.
