Weight loss is a common phenomenon in women’s lives, especially with all kinds of media spreading the image of slimness, more and more women are joining the weight-loss army.Dieting is one of the most common ways they lose weight.Restrained eating refers to the long-term practice of restricting eating in order to reach a weight goal. Most people fail to lose or maintain weight in the long run through long-term dieting, which alternates between dieting and failure.Emotion is an important factor in the occurrence of failure situations.Current research on restrained eating mainly concentrated in the restricted dieters` dietary behavior and food cues, most of them are at the level of consciousness, and the research from the level of unconscious is still in the starting state. There is little research on deep discussion on the related issues. While most people fail in the business of losing weight, some still succeed. Therefore,it is necessary to classify the different types of restricted eaters.Women pay more attention to their figure and weight, and tend to choose a diet to lose weight compared with men. Therefore, the dieting rate of women is very high, and the majority of binge-eating disorder patients are female.Research on the characteristics of eating behaviour of female restricted eaters can provide ideas for the intervention of improper eating of restricted eaters. To help restricted eaters achieve successful dieting goals through cognitive adjustments.Promote healthy eating and prevent eating disorders while meeting dieting goals. Therefore, this study took female restricted eaters as research subjects to explore the dietary preferences of restricted eaters. In the first study,300 Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaires were distributed and90 college students were screened out(30 successful restricted dieters,30 failed restricted dieters,30 unrestricted dieters),combined with the mood start paradigm,by having recruited 90 participants completed on the threshold of mood start the task,to explore the characteristics of eating behaviour in restricted eaters under supralthreshold emotional priming from the perspective of behavioral response;in the second study,300 Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaires were distributed and 90 college students were screened out(30 successful restricted dieters,30 failed restricted dieters,30 unrestricted dieters),combined with the mood start paradigm,by having recruited 90 participants completed subliminal emotional startup tasks,to explore the characteristics of eating behaviour in restricted eaters under subliminal emotional priming from the perspective of behavioral response;in the third study, the Simplified Implicit Association Test(BIAT)was used to further explore the characteristics of the implicit attitude towards food of the failed restricted eaters on the basis of the first and second studies, and to analyze the reasons why the failed restricted eaters failed in dieting.Behavioral data were collected and these indicators analyzed.Draw the following conclusions:First, the influence of positive emotions on the eating behavior of restrained eaters was significantly higher than that of negative emotions.Second, the willingness to eat was significantly higher in the failed restricted eaters than in the successful restricted eaters and non-restricted eaters.Third, the failed restricted eaters made stronger associations between high calorie foods and active eating words, and low calorie foods and passive eating words. In conclusion,in the supralthreshold and subliminal emotional priming tasks, positive emotion is a stable factor for the failed restricted eaters to inhibit eating. And positive emotions mostly affected the failed restricted dieters. The failed restricted dieters fail on dieting because they violate their dieting goals and have a positive implicit preference for high calorie foods. The above results are helpful to understand the relationship between emotion and eating intention and implicit food attitude of restricted eaters, and provide reference for future research.
