The Comparison Between Sad Music And Happy Music In Film And Television Music And Audience Emotion

With the rise of China’s economic strength and the leap development of cultural soft power,as well as the improvement of national living standards,people’s demand for the spiritual level is increasing.As one of the indispensable pillar industries in China’s cultural industry,film and television art industry is attracting more and more attention from the public.With the emergence and development of film and television art,film and television music has spanned a long and tortuous history of nearly one hundred years in China,during which Chinese practitioners and academic researchers have made great contributions to the study of film and television music.Film and television music is an extremely important component of film and television works.In our existing film and television works,it is almost difficult to find any film and television works that do not apply any film and television music to render the atmosphere and foil the emotion or describe the psychological activities of the characters.Film music is the essence of music,in the previous study known different mood type of music in different conditions is difference for the emotional impact the results based on other researchers concluded that the film and television music for film and television works are deepening the theme film and television works Describe the film and television characters Apply colours to a drawing atmosphere foil film character emotional arousal associations involved in the plot,plot driven development,and other functions.Based on this,the author believes that film and television music,which has some common features with general music,can induce different emotions when it acts on the audience through film and television works.Therefore,the author puts forward this topic: the comparison of emotion induced by sad music and happy music in film and television music,hoping to understand the difference of emotion induced by music of sad and happy two different emotions in film and television music through this study.This topic carries on the research through a preliminary experiment and two experiments.The preliminary experiment was to reduce the emotional impact of the plot of the film and television works on the subjects through the subjective rating of the subjects with the video and audio materials edited by researchers.The first experiment was a behavioral experiment.Two factors(emotional valence : joyful and sad music type* vocal instrumental music)were designed in the experiment,and the dependent variable was the subjective report score of the subjects’ emotions of watching the movie.The subjective reports of the subjects were collected mainly in the form of questionnaires to explore whether playing film clips in the background music with different emotional valence would trigger different movie-watching emotions of the subjects,whether there would be differences in emotional arousal,and what kind of differences there were.The results showed that happy music triggered happy emotions in the film and television clips,while sad music triggered sad emotions in the film and television clips,which was consistent with the function of music itself.It also indicated that the music material used in this experiment could correctly induce the corresponding emotions of the subjects.In film and television music,vocal music is more likely to induce positive emotions than instrumental music,while instrumental music is more likely to induce negative emotions.Experiment two is galvanic skin experiment,the researchers will for the experimental design of two factors(emotional Valence: Pleasure and Sadness Music* Type:Vocal and Instrumental Music)within subjects design,the dependent variable for the participants to measure physiological indexes:intheprocess ofviewingoximetrygalvanicskinreferstorefers to the temperature,through the use of biofeedback instrument measuring physiological indexes in the process of the participants in the movie from the physical level to explore in with different mood titer of background music playing neutral video clips will trigger the subjects different viewing emotions,emotional arousal will there be a difference,what’s the difference.The overall result is that in the process of watching movies,happy music can arouse individual emotions to a greater extent than sad music,and vocal music can induce higher emotional arousal than instrumental music.The conclusion from Experiment 1 and Experiment 2 is that in film and television works,sad film and television music induces sad emotions,while happy film and television music induces happy emotions.Under the effect of film and television music,film and television plots have a low influence on emotional induction.Different emotion and music types of film and television music have different emotional arousal degree of audience,happy music has higher influence on emotional arousal degree of audience than sad music.
