| Nowadays,international exchanges and activities on mechanical engineering are more frequent.As a part of the world economy,China has become more active in participating in international trades in mechanical engineering.The translation of technical texts based on science and technology is increasingly important.Among them,the Chinese-English translation of long sentences in technical texts is greatly needed.The study of Chinese-English translation of long sentence,on the one hand,can not only add a new perspective to the Chinese-English translation of mechanical engineering texts,but also strengthen the company’s exchanges with other countries,expand its international influence,and promote its own brand.On the other hand,this research can improve the writer’s understanding of technical translation and the ability to translate technical texts,especially mechanical engineering texts.The translation practice report focuses on the Chinese-English translation of long sentences of Standard for Performance Test of XXX Loader.Firstly,the writer sorted the Chinese long sentences and classified them into long subject sentences,long adverbial sentences,long attributive sentences,long declarative sentences and long complex sentences,and then translated them respectively based on Newmark’s theory on communicative translation.On this basis,it’s found that in choosing translation techniques of technical texts,linear translation may be suitable for the long subject sentence and inversion may be for the long adverbial sentence.Moreover,inversion may be also used for the long attributive sentence,while long complex sentences can employ linear translation,division and synthetic methods.At the end of the thesis,with the findings of translation practice,some opinions and suggestions are put forward in the actual situation.In short,the translation practice is a useful attempt to study the Chinese-English translation of long sentences in mechanical engineering texts. |
