A Study On Feng Yuanjun And Her Research About Ancient Chinese Theatre

Mr.Feng Yuanjun is a modern Chinese female writer,a classical literature historian and famous scholar for the history of the ancient Chinese theatre and ancient Chinese opera theory.Mr.Feng comes from a learned family and has rich academic experience.She has not only a solid foundation in the studies of Chinese ancient civilization,but also is the expert on both Chinese and Western culture and history.She immersed herself in the field of the history of ancient Chinese drama with her penetrating and meticulous research spirit to worked diligently and painstakingly to search for the document literature to complete two monographs on the history of ancient drama within decades,The Collection of Ancient Drama and The Interpretation of Ancient Performer.In both of the two works,Mr.Feng not only made a detailed summary and analysis to the elements of "ancient drama" in the Song and Yuan Dynasties include the theater,the odd folk artists,the scenarists,performance and the costume styles illustration,but also studied,compared and interpreted every aspect include the origin,identity,status,skills,characteristics and evolvement of the "Chinese ancient traditional opera performers" in the Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties.At the same time,she also discussed and analyzed the origin relationship and its influence on politics,culture,literature,art and even the traditional folk customs which is of great significance in academic value.Feng’s researches on the "Ancient Drama" has a wide vision and are particularly informative which is not only inherited the legacy of the studies of ancient drama and performers of Wang Guowei and Ren Bantang,but also pushes the study on the Chinese classical drama history to the new field of the modern drama research hence attract the concern and attention from numerous drama scholars and great cultural masters and lay a solid foundation for later generations to the subsequent research.The original research intention of this paper include the life,family background,education and growing experience of Feng which is quite legendary;The research methods,academic paths,research characteristics and works’ system of Feng which are meticulous and rigorous.The research results and historical value of Feng’s "Ancient Drama" are worthy of further exploration and repeated discussion.The significance of the study of Feng’s "Ancient Drama" is that "study the ancient drama" and learn methods of the "traditional drama study" in the process of interpreting the "ancient drama study" of Feng by clarifying the basic framework of the study of Feng’s drama history,summarizing the core viewpoints of Feng’s study and identifying the gains,losses and the knowledge both right and wrong of Feng’s study.The solid research ability,comprehensive material interpretation ability and almost perfect view refining ability are very admirable and respected in my learning process.Her "ancient drama study" is the continuation and development of the drama research of many masters on the studies of Chinese ancient civilization include Wang Guowei and Ren Erbei.Her study method is an epitome of the grow and progress of modern Chinese scholars.Therefore,Mr.Feng deserves a place in the field of the research of Chinese classical drama.
