Permissive And Periphrastic Causative Structures In Hongloumeng,Ernv Yingxiong Zhuan,and Xiao’e

Niu Shunxin(2004)Ph D thesis "A Typological Study of Causatives in Chinese" divides the type of causative structure of Mandarin into two major categories and six small categories from the perspective of grammatical form(appropriate combination of grammatical meaning),and he observed that permissive(pai ta qu kaihui)and periphrastic(rang wo hen gaoxing)are the two most common analytical causative structures in modern Chinese.In this paper,author investigates the linguistic phenomena and regular pattern in the Qing Dynasty’s Hongloumeng(1791),Ernv Yingxiong Zhuan(Around1850),and Xiao’e(1908).Permissive and periphrastic causative structures are systematically described in synchronic and diachronic comparison,trying to describe the appearance of permissive and periphrastic causative structures in the Qing Dynasty,while analyzing the evolution of modern Chinese’s permissive and periphrastic causative structures.This article starts with the causative expression of vernacular novels in the three periods of the Qing Dynasty,it has important theoretical and practical significance for the grammar research of Chinese history.This article is divided into five parts:Chapter 1,Summarizes the previous research results,and permissive and periphrastic causative structures studied in this article are determined and classified;Chapter 2,Permissive causative structure in Hongloumeng,Ernv Yingxiong Zhuan,and Xiao’e is categorized,and the grammatical structure and grammatical function of this causative structure are specifically described and analyzed;Chapter 3,Periphrastic causative structure in Hongloumeng,Ernv Yingxiong Zhuan,and Xiao’e is categorized,and the grammatical structure and grammatical function of this causative structure are specifically described and analyzed;Chapter 4,The comparative analysis of permissive and periphrastic causative structures in Hongloumeng,Ernv Yingxiong Zhuan,and Xiao’e is compared with modern Chinese,trying to analyze the evolution of permissive and periphrastic causative structures from the Qing language to the modern Chinese;chapter 5,It is the conclusion,which summarizes the main viewpoints and conclusions in the research.
