| In modern Chinese, there is a group of adherent morphemes that are particularly strong in analogical construction, and from the perspective of general morphology, these morphemes can be called quasi-affix.By reviewing the research materials related to quasi-affixes in recent decades,we can see that there is no uniformity in the academic community regarding the criteria for judging quasi-affixes and their quantitative range;moreover, due to the ambiguity and uncertainty of quasi-affixes themselves, the grammatical attribution of the structural components of the new words and neologisms that have emerged in large numbers in recent years is highly controversial. This paper summarises and analyses the nature of quasi-affixes as summarised by previous authors, formulates criteria for judging them, outlines a general overview of modern Chinese quasi-affixes,analyses their composition and characteristics, explains their causes and points out their development trends, with a view to promoting the study of modern Chinese quasi-affixes and enriching the theoretical study of them;at the same time,it helps to understand and grasp the dynamic changes in Chinese vocabulary and morphology, and provides a basis for It also helps to understand and grasp the dynamics of Chinese vocabulary and morphology, and provides reference for the study of the history of modern Chinese lexical development. The text consists of the following sections.Chapter 1,The Nature and Definition of Modern Chinese Quasi-Affixes.From the facts of the corpus, the nature of quasi-affixes as summarized and identified by previous authors is discussed, and the criteria for judging quasi-affixes are further explored in terms of semantics, form and function, suggesting that quasi-affixes have the characteristics of fixed position, semantic generalization or clasification, cannot be formed into words alone, and high productivity.Chapter 2,Classification and Semantic Composition of Modern Chinese Quasi-Affixes.It is proposed that quasi-affixes can be classified into quasi-prefixes and quasi-suffixes,local-derived quasi-affixes and borrowed quasi-affixes,monosyllabic and bisyllabic, etc.Meanwhile, based on the corpus facts,70 modern Chinese quasi-affixes are summarized, including 18 quasi-prefixes and 52 quasisuffixes, and then the semantic composition of quasi-affixes is further examined and analyzed.Chapter 3,Collocation and Function of Modern Chinese Quasi-Affixes.The collocation components of quasi-affixes are discussed in terms of lexical material, syllable count, grammatical level, and it is argued that the collocation components are dominated by Chinese characters, the syllable count is dominated by diphthongs, and the grammatical level is dominated by words. The functions of quasi-affixes in word formation, grammatical marking and semantic expression are also discussed, suggesting that quasi-affixes can be attached to roots, bisyllabic words and units larger than words, that there is an imbalance in the grammatical marking ability of quasi-prefixes and quasi-suffixes,and that the degree of semantic contribution of quasi-affixes is obvious. Finally, the semantic production process of the quasi-affix "~Jia" is explored from a cognitive linguistic perspective.Chapter 4,Causes and development trends of modern Chinese affixes. The causes of quasi-affixes are discussed, pointing out that the external causes include social and psychological factors, while the internal causes include the principle of linguistic parsimony, analogical mechanisms and language contact, etc. The development trend of quasi-affixes is also discussed, and three possibilities are considered: to remain unchanged,to return to the root or to grammatically transform into typical affixes. Conclusion: Summarises the whole paper and points out the shortcomings of the study, and identifies future research directions. |
