Born in 1979,Shi Yifeng published a series of works when he was a student at Peking University. His early novels,The Young Beauty under the Red Flag,Love Beijing,Jiejie Loves the Wonderful Life Most, and so on,created a group of lost protagonists with a humorous tone and funny language, depicting the unique youthful appearance of the”post-80s”generation.Starting from the publication of There is No Chen Jinfang in the World in 2014,including The Eye of the Earth,Born by Borrowing Life,The Non-official History of the Mind,Roses Blossom out in Maizidian and so on,Shi Yifeng’s writing on growth is closely connected with life and reflects certain times.Through the description of the growth of typical characters,he has completed the personal narration of experience and the self-breakthrough of embracing the times. This paper is divided into three parts:introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction clarifies the purpose and significance of the topic, combs the research status of the growth novels, the growth theme and Shi Yifeng’s works, and discusses the research content and methods of this paper. The conclusion is a summary of the full text. The main body consists of three parts, starting from the growth theme of Shi Yifeng’s novels, combing and analyzing the text presentation, narrative art and creative significance of Shi Yifeng’s novels, and discussing how the growing protagonists in Shi Yifeng’s novels establish self-consciousness in the fierce collision with the outside world,to achieve the redemption of family affection, love and spiritual growth, trying to reveal Shi Yifeng’s attention to realistic problems through the growth theme and thinking about life. The first chapter interprets the specific presentation of the growth theme of Shi Yifeng’s novels from three aspects:the growing protagonists with strong self-awareness trek on the ideal road and finally complete the growth ceremony;the confused growing protagonists complete the return of family affection and self-confirmation after painful transformation;the growing protagonists under the control of desire struggle forward in the torrent of steel until they get lost. The second chapter analyzes the narrative features of Shi Yifeng’s novels from the perspective of narration and the language. The first-person narration can directly express the growth experience, which is of great significance to the completion and summary of the selfgrowth experience, while the works written in the omniscient perspective, because of the great extensibility of time and space, are conducive to a comprehensive understanding of the protagonist’s growth history.Shi Yifeng’s humorous and teasing language is a warm kind of growing memory, while ironic discourse hides the exploration of growth problems. The third chapter discusses the significance and limitations of the growth theme of Shi Yifeng’s novels.First of all,he places the most memorable feelings and spiritual values of youth on the growing protagonists and writes a history of growth with care for them.Secondly,he looks at the spiritual state of modern people through the thorny process of growing protagonists, and reflects on the spiritual growth in a complex context. Finally,he makes an ideal reflection and deep thinking about human nature when showing the painful choices faced by the growing protagonists on the road of life.By working through and studying the growth theme in Shi Yifeng’s novels, this paper probes into the growth memory of selfexperience and the realistic growth of integrating into the society in Shi Yifeng’s novels, thinking about the ideal struggle and persistence under the collision between growth and reality,self-exile and redemption, soul wandering and being lost,in order to enrich the study of Shi Yifeng’s novels.
